Made reservations to be safe and were glad we did as the place really filled up. We had the bison tartare and the smoked herring for starters. Both were excellent and very flavourful. They provide a cut up baguette with warm butter. When I asked...More

We shared many dishes as this bistro and were enchanted with one after the other. Ask the waitstaff to explain them, as many of the ingredients and herbs used have been forged from the forests in the North. The fish dishes were especially creative.

We went in with zero expectations but were blown away by this new cuisine style. New Nordic Cuisine is food produced with a focus on taste, complexity, and diversity, drawing from local resources including forgotten varieties and breeds, and incorporating old processing methods and new...More

On a really cold day in the Old Quebec, I was really eager to have such a yummy brunch... the dishes are based on really traditional dishes but the chef has brought them to another level. For example, the ''Pain Doré'' I ordered was salty...More

My business associates brought me here for dinner when I was in town. This is such a delightful restaurant that skillfully uses local ingredients. Great service with a fluent bilingual server. Interesting cocktail choices. The cappuccino onion soup was a great starter. (I don't think...More

Smart casual, some people dressed up, some people wore jeans. It's a pretty hip place, wear something comfortable and fun. Enjoy!

Description
Confit goose and duck leg parmentier, potatoes with mushrooms and fir tree essence, birch syrup vinaigrette: these are a few examples of what can be found on the menu at Chez Boulay – Bistro Boréal. On rue Saint-Jean in Quebec City since 2012, the restaurant places a value on the boreal region, especially the produce from the vast wilderness of northern Canada. For the last five years, the Bistro has been a popular destination because of our passionate chefs. Come meet our team and enjoy a memorable Nordic experience.

Five years after the opening of Chez Boulay – Bistro Boreal, Arnaud Marchand and his team innovate and export their culinary talent into this new gastronomic adventure: the Comptoir boreal.

In our charming and warm space in the heart of Quebec City, you will find pastries, sandwiches and ready-made meals that emphasize the value of the produce from our region. Foodies and clients on the go can come and enjoy snacks and meals that are out of the ordinary.
