Hi. I went there with my kindergarten/grade 3 teacher and 2 other friends from the same era. It was our 2nd reunion. We share 52 years of memories. The food and the service were both excellent. The only thing wrong was somebody stole my reservation and it was a man. I don't know how they cannot check that. Anyway we... More

We had a good night at Cafe Cherrier! Service was great, absolutely perfect. Food was so so, but it was not overpriced, therefore I was not completely disappointed. I ordered the duck salad, and the romsteck. The romsteck is served on a hot plate which continues to cook the beef if you're not eating it quickly, which overcooks the meat.... More

I was very impressed with the casual athmosphere ruling this cafe which offers in fact a complete 3 course menu with enough difficult choices to make that you wanna come back very soon for more. Whatever dish you may order, I recommend a side dish of fries, since it is a must. Following the french tradition, you can either have... More

Bustling bistro on a rainy Thursday evening; majority of diners appeared to be locals; us 2 visitors were warmly welcomed; staff were upbeat; mushroom soup, duck entree and pork entree, creme brûlée all excellent. Prices reasonable. A great recommendation by our nearby hotel and would definitely eat here again if in the area.

Excellent example of a slightly above average restaurant with a terrific location. Good place for apero more than dinner but if you end up staying for dinner, it won't be disapointing. Just OK. Big turnover in servers and busy ambiance brasserie-style make for a ''happening'' place that manage to stay busy after many many years. Perfect for tourists.

Stopped here for a late lunch on Sept 6th after a long walk around the Plateau neighborhood. Turned out to be the best part of the day. Sat inside next to a window that looked out into the covered terrace. On this day due to the heat, it was better than being outside as we were able to enjoy the... More

The main draw here is the atmosphere—furnishings and portrait photos conjure up Montreal’s golden age, and a table on the leafy patio would be a great spot for visitors to take in the bohemian charm of the Plateau. Brunch offerings and service are average for mid-range Montreal bistros, and indeed better than one might predict upon seeing the high volume... More

The food was delicious and a mellow ambiance. My friend and i went during the midday and it was perfect. Service was a little slow, but I think that was the point!

It is hard to tell if the food was worth the price. The black pudding seemed good. It was so noisy, who could taste the food. When one sensory input is so over loaded the others fail. Even the staff seemed to throw the dirty dishes to see how much noise could be made without breaking. Skip it for a... More

A lovely day in Montreal was made complete by an excellent dining experience at the Cafe Cherrier. The menu is well rounded with many offerings from seafood to meat with vegetarian options as well. I would particularly recommend the shrimp in tempura batter. They were absolutely delicious, & probably the best I have ever tasted. Service by Georges was friendly... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
