Ate here for a friend's birthday. We had the Montréal en lumiere set menu, everything was amazing - especial the quenelles and the rotisson de cerf . Including our two servers.

We were taken by a relative, a known gastronome and lover of good service and friendly wait staff, to this wonderful, small and intriguing restaurant. They do not serve wine so you must bring your own and it is served graciously. Food was perfectly and imaginatively prepared and presented from a tiny kitchen and by a knowledgeable, friendly and perfectly... More

Drove from Ottawa and met up with friends from Calgary for a weekend in Montreal. We went to this place for dinner on Saturday night. This place was recommended to us and we thought it would be fun to bring our friends to a BYOW restaurant. The food and service were excellent. I had the Filet Mignon which was slightly... More

This is a great little neighborhood restaurant where you can bring your own wine and where the service is impeccable. The cuisine is French and the ingredients used are in season. One of their specialty dish is a foie gras with caramelized onions. Our waiter suggested we share it as a starter. It is not to be missed. We had... More

Spent yesterday evening at Christophe and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We were welcomed warmly and served beautifully throughout our meal. The waiter really cares if you are enjoying your meal and - as there weren't many people there early in our meal - I actually heard him tell the chef we were very pleased with our appetizers - and he sounded... I'm a big fan of french cuisine. I went to France serveral time just to enjoy great food. Chez Christophe, you get a taste of France in Montreal. The service is remarkable. It is the kind of restaurant where you can have a good time with your friends, bring your own wine and eat like a king. The menu changes... More

Late review of a visit during the winter of 2014-2015 Chez Christophe is another staple on Van Horne avenue in the Outremont -Park Extension neighborhood. Décor is classical bistro. They have smaller rooms on the second floor for larger parties but you will miss the ambiance of the main floor. The noise level was manageable on the day we went... More

Very good French cuisine - peaceful ambience - attentive staff. We go to this restaurant about 4 times per year and are never disappointed.

Another Senior Contributor a few weeks ago came to same conclusion I am announcing here: go elsewhere if you have $50 or more to spend on a plate. As did the other Contributor, yes the service is sloooow! And the mathematics at the other end of the meal are surprisingly deceiving. Two of four in our party selected Menu Gastronomique.... More

Staying in Outremont

Neighbourhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theatre productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighbourhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
