When we arrived at our hotel, it was between the time of lunch and dinner. At first, the person at the bar said we couldn't have food. Then he said he'd check. We were able to get some incredibly wonderful sandwiches.

The food is absolutely fantastic. Started with Venison Tataki and Foie Gras Poutine. Both dishes are small but robust with flavors. The Foie Gras poutine is a must have here. The Filet Mignon with bone-marrow, potato gratin, seasonal vegetables was incredibly delicious paired with a glass of cab. My brother had a their lamb dish which was equally as good.... More

Loved the place and the ambience. Very romantic and great for couples. The service was excellent as well. The vegetarian salad was just top notch, loved the mix. The best part of the night was the fillet mignon. Probably one of the best in Montreal. It was perfectly cooked and the side veggies were yummy. Everything was smooth and nice... More

We went here on Saturday 2/18 for a birthday dinner. We had 9pm reservations and it was a bustling scene. We had a child with us and Chris, our waiter made sure she had her meal before our appetizers arrived. The food was extraordinary, we had the Seafood tower, and tapas sized octopus, fois gras poutine (not with fries) which... More

Eaten here 4-5 times over the past two years. Never disappointed. Excellent food, beautiful presentation, perfect portion size, well priced. Attentive but not intrusive wait-staff. Good "wine by the glass" selection. Our waiter Luc even went out of his way to make a ginger herbal tea for my wife! Have been with family as well as friends and am already looking... More

I have been wanting to try Verses Restaurant for some time and noticed that there was ''Table D'hote'' at reduced prices via Happening Gourmand so figured it would be a good opportunity to try. Funny place with special dishes quiet unusual: Attached picture show a thick brioche toast with bacon, melted cheese quail egg and foie gras with maple sirup in the bottom .... Welcome to Canada ;-) Service was good.

There are many good places to eat in Montreal. Verses should be on the top of your list. The food is fabulous at a very good price point. So many of the nice restaurants are in the higher price range. The apricot pie was the best I have ever had. The entire meal was a pleasant experience, dinner the way... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
