I've lived in Montreal for a bit and visited regularly and have always wanted to eat here - but because I'm not so good at planning, could never get in. First piece of advice, book a reservation or be prepared to wait a long time....More

It was our first time in Montreal, and we are major foodies so our trip was all about trying out restaurants. L'Express was our favorite one! They have the world's best hangar steak - so well-flavored, juicy and perfectly cooked. Even the fries are super-yummy....More

This restaurant was recommended by several people as a "must go to" place. I arrived without a reservation, so had to wait in order to get a seat at the bar. There was a convivial atmosphere. I was treated courteously and given menus (both French...More

They serve a fantastic brunch but we like to go for dinner. Reservations a must. Steak frites is amazing-they recommend great wine with the meal. The ile flotant for dessert is Devine - reserve one ahead of time.

Our meal was a very solid, but not necessarily a memorable meal. My fish soup was very well seasoned, but the toast bits with melted gruyere were the highlight of the soup appetizer for me. Wife’s frisée salad with lardon was much better. For entrees...More

Nice decor, classic dishes, but rather ordinary, nothing exciting or different or outstanding. Rather boring in fact. Just OK, nothing to write home about. Except for the prices. Not worth it imo. Had a decent but bland sorrel soup, not quite hot enough. The partridge...More

Our Montreal friends took us to this place because, according to them, it's a typical Montreal restaurant. The food was delicious, the menu interesting and varied, and the staff most helpful and friendly. The dark wood and long bar make the interior cozy and welcoming.

We reserved two seats at the counter since all the tables were booked. But we'll sit at the counter next time too if M. Massen is on duty at the bar. He was quirky and delightful as he served us an exquisite meal. I had...More
