Our Montreal friends took us to their favorite restaurant where the four of us enjoyed classic food. Boudin blanc, kidneys and mussels were all excellent. The duck rillette appetizer was good but needed more salt or spice. We shared an excellent Crete brûlée for dessert....More

We went here in early April and chose to sit at the bar. Everything they brought out was excellent. Service was impeccable and fast. Prices were reasonable. The host was very kind helpful. The bartenders and waiters were the same. We will def return.

I have been going there since it opened in 1979. L'express is a French bistro with high quality food, but don't expect super fancy food. The Steak tartare is hands down the best in town, never disappointed me. It has been and remains an institution...More

Restaurant fills up fast, so make advance reservations. Share different dishes and drink the local wine. Nash on the cornichons provided on the table and don't forget to order the marrow bones. Meat, fish and fowl all have their own special preparations.

I see that the restaurant opens at 8am on weekdays...is there a separate breakfast menu or do they simply serve the one regular menu all day long? Thanks!
