In a city with countless excellent eateries, Il Campari stands out amongst the best. When entering the restaurant you are greeted like a friend by both owner and staff. We noted this to be true not only for us but we observed this when many other people arrived. Food choices are varied and excellent and the service is friendly, knowledgeable... More

I had a business dinner here with a colleague based on the excellent Tripadvisor reviews. Given the price range, I had expected a great food experience so typical of Montreal. The first disappointment was the Fungi alla Griglia daily appetizer, three limp soggy tasteless fried mushrooms with otherwise pretty presentation. The main course, Veal Scaloppine Saltimbocca, which I ordered as... More

My boyfriend and I ate dinner here. It was a quick walk from the hotel. The wine was excellent. He had the spaghetti and meatsauce. He reported it to be very good. I had the fettuccine alfredo. It was very good. The atmosphere is wonderful. I love the colored glass in the ceiling. The staff was wonderful. They were friendly... More

This is a really good restaurant in downtown, close to the Bell Center. We came in from out of town and got caught up in the hockey mana but the staff did a really good job serving everyone in a timely manner. I don't speak or read French so the easy thing was to get the combination meal which is... More

The restaurant hosted a gathering of 35 and everything was perfect. Rich decor and very attentive service. Classic Italian dishes done to perfection. Tasty antipasti. Delicious veal, same with the lamb shanks. Rich tiramisu. Good wine. Everything you need for an enjoyable gathering.

I am a 1%er. Proud of it-I work hard. I am also willing to try the better restaurants when I hear something is truly worthwhile. I had some friends recommend Campari Centro to me . It was everything is should be. Amed, (sp) was the best waiter we have had in many many years. His support team exceptional. But, as... More

This warm and inviting Italian restaurant offers a varied menu of authentic Italian dishes with a contemporary flare. The service was very good and the waiter was helpful in guiding us through the menu. The food was so good and the portions were generous. Overall a very nice evening.

Had the pleasure of dining at Campari this evening and all of my expectations were exceeded. The food was wonderful only outdone by the service. Our server Karl went above and beyond to insure that we were happy. The owner could not have been nicer and ran a cab down immediately for us. Truly a great experience .

From the moment we entered the staff was welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is beautifully appointed and has a great atmosphere, but is enhanced by the staff tremendously. From the owner who is friendly and gregarious to Karl our waiter they took excellent care of us. Even moving our table when the rain started, to allow us to continue outside.... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
