They do a great job with service at the Boris. Everyone is attentive, friendly and the staff make the atmosphere. Nice bistro atmosphere and my Mediterranean Plat with chicken was superb. Very nice taste assortment and well presented. I'd like to try the menu again. Nice casual, friendly atmosphere with a good wine list. Good place for a decent size... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant for lunch our first afternoon in Montreal. We seriously didn't realize we had just landed in a City so beautifully married to great food and hospitality. Boris Bistro was a great introduction to the City and the cuisine. We were settling into a french speaking City. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. He helped us... More

While we have been lucky enough with the weather in Montreal to extend our al fresco dining experience well into October, it was a delight to see that Boris Bistro was able to accommodate us for a lovely late lunch on a gorgeous Friday afternoon. Boris Bistro is a steady, dependable, great quality for price kind of place. I give... More

We had a reservation, but when we arrived, a large party that the staff expected to have departed were still in the main restaurant, standing around all the tables, drinking and talking loudly. So we were glad to go outside into the bistro's courtyard instead, as it was a mild and pleasant evening. We had to use our cell phone... More

We ate in the garden, which is a gutted old building with only the facade still standing - - - no roof, large trees - - - fun place. Food was decent, but not amazing.

We had a long day after doing the Mile End Food tour, headed back to our hotel to freshen up then enjoy some adult beverages. We walked down to Boris Bistro, very charming little area outside with vines growing everywhere. We enjoyed cocktails in the afternoon and later they served food. The food looked very yummy but we had dinner... More

Ordered a fine scotch straight up and was served about half a ounce. My fiancée ordered a wine cocktail that was cut with juices, she also ordered a chicken salad appetizer with 2 leaves of lettuce

In a warm day even as long temperatures are above 17 C or 66 F nice large casual terrace to have a bistro food. Some of their main courses has 1/2 portions almost 1/2 price . Reservations in a nice day for lunch or supper is a must

Boris Bistro has one of the most attractive dining terraces in Montreal. If available and weather permitting give it a try. Food is very good, nice, varied menu. Service was excellent. My only complaint was the presumptuous wine list. Only one or two offerings under $50; average cost white around $65; red, $80. It made a moderate cost meal quite... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
