Went in to try the famous wood oven bagels everyone told me of and i must say i wasnt disappointed. Theyre a must try on every Montreal visit and make sure you take some home! The serving was pretty big and satisfying since the bagel is full of vegetables and comes with a side of a salads or pastas

It was so cool to go into the store and see one of the bakers dumping a wooden dowel full of hot, fresh everything bagels into a bin in front of us! The store smelled amazing and we were able to buy whipped chive cream cheese (along with many other types they offer) there too. They gave us plastic knives... More

We walked to find this bagel spot as we had heard so many recommendations for it. We walked in and happily took in the wood oven and all the scrumptious looking bagels. Before we could look at the menu options a server came over and in a rude manner asked if we are staying or leaving. We pleasantly replied that... More

A lot of people tout St-Viateur as the best bagel place in Montreal. I got a bagel breakfast sandwich (with egg, ham etc.) and thought it was very good...but not quite the best bagel I have ever had. I will warn people that street parking right in front of the restaurant is scarce so plan ahead. Also, they are primarily... More

Despite reviews mentioning long lines and cranky servers, we had a nice experience here. We got right in and we're seated (although the waiting area is small, so if it had been busier, I could see it being unpleasant). The bagels are wood fired in the back, which was neat to see. Food was good, with easy vegetarian options. I... More

Simply the best bagel in Montreal (tried from three different locations to be sure) ....suggested to try the fresh and oven-hot bagels as part of a lazy weekend breakfast or brunch.

I come in Friday afternoon at shift change, got seated and practically forgotten while the two waitresses talked about their day. Ordered and received my food in a timely manner, my dirty empty plates were left in front of me for over half an hour while our waitress again was engaged in deep conversation with a non dining guest, the... I'm a huge fan of bagels and I know Saint-Viateur's a really famous place and their bagels are great! Normally I go to the bakery In Saint-Viateur St. to get bagels. But this time I went to the restaurant for having brunch with a friend. The place was packed and we had to wait 10-15 minutes which was alright. The... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
