We had lunch for a large group. Service was reasonably efficient, and the food good. Typical pub fare with beer etc. Beware: there are a lot of stairs to climb.

First came here in the afternoon while touring the Old City. Stopped by for a beer and a snack. The place looked pretty cool and it was not very busy. We just got appetizers and they were excellent! Stopped by again that night looking for some drinks and entertainment. Again it did not disappointed. It was much busier this time... More

The end of March is a quiet time in Old Montreal at least the day I was there for lunch. Beautiful day outside. Sunny and warm. I enjoy pubs and this place had that great pub feel. It wasn't busy, the bartender was friendly. I did ask for a local draft but after announcing all Molson brews I discovered they... More

The decor and layout of the pub is very typical - a good place for a pub experience, a bit noisy but expected at a pub. However, dining was on the 2nd level up very steep and narrow stairs; therefore, I could not recommend it for anyone with mobility issues. Food was hot, delicious, hearty, and filling.

We visited Pub St Paul during long weekend trip to Montreal. After roaming the Le Vieux Port and Park Jaques Cartier we decided we wanted a beer and maybe some food . Can't really go wrong with beer and they had a decent selection of Craft or microbrew products , but we were a bit disappointed with our food .... More

Great Venue have been here a couple of times! Business Breakfast, Lunch and DINNER. Can be a little pricey but all the food I have tried is excellent. Weekend make reservations as this place is always busy, as all great restaurants!

This is more of a bar than place to go for dinner. They have food but I don't think it'd be my choice in Montreal. We went with a big group for drinks. We had a sweet server but the poor girl was on her own. For that reason, service was pretty slow but she was apologetic. Sundays there are... More

Service was good and fast, no hurry either. Food was good in the pub perspective. Our group of 12 had pretty good beers, good nachos and fries and over all everybody was satisfied. On top of that, our waitress was ultra kind and easy going :) The Pub ST-Paul is a classic pub with accessible price, good food, nice view... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
