Le Sénateur is a nice size hotel bar with an inviting decor including some Montreal Canadiens memorabilia. Prompt, hospitable and friendly service. Since I was with my laptop, I really appreciated that I was left alone to enjoy my drink while I continued working. What impresses me is the bar's whisky selection for scotch lovers.

Good hotel lounge. TVs for sport events. Menu offers same fare as dining room. Good service but "slammed" after a Montreal Canadiens hockey game.

We were staying close by so decided to dine at Bar Le Senateur for dinner. The decor was old school with heavy dark furniture & carpets. We ordered a steak & fish for mains. Both were very average & we had wished we had dined elsewhere for the money involved. However the staff were very friendly & efficient.

I twice enjoyed a snack and a few Mad and Noisy IPAs during my recent stay at the Chateau. There is a handsome bar with about a dozen draft beers and the usual assortment of bottled beers, wines, and spirits as well as tables with waiter service. The poutine w/duck confit was spectacular (if a bit nouveau) but the mini... More

We stayed at the Marriott Champlain Ate 3 times here. The filet mignon is excellent. The beef tartar is not ground enough so the pieces are a little too big. The Cobb salad is very good. The service is excellent and the barmaid remembered us 3 days later. Very inviting especially as our last night was cold and rainy.

We went to this bar twice over the weekend. The first stop was Friday night after driving 5 hours to Montreal. We didn't want to roam around looking for a quick bite to eat and a few drinks so hit the bar at the hotel. We sat at a table and it was comfortable, but the chairs were horribly stained... More

I really don't suggest that restaurant to anybody! The ingredients they use are not good, dishes are not washed properly, the staff are only running everywhere and hitting clients! The food is terrible!

I stayed in the Marriott Chateau Champlain several times on business. The food was always great and tasty. This was a good place to eat when going out was not an option, as that takes traveling several blocks to other eateries in the area. The service was pleasant, helpful, and timely. I would definitely eat here again!

Saturday night, long waits at all the other restaurants in the area, this one had no wait so we decided to venture in. It was filled primary with tour bus folks...cruise ship folks...mass eating for the non locals. That should have been a first hint that maybe we chose poorly..but we were tired and just looking for appetizers and a... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
