Casual eatery. We went there because we were looking for a decent, relatively inexpensive meal after having had a rich meal the night before. The place was jam-packed with people of all ages (though I didn't notice any children), everyone chatting and having fun. Known for their pizzas, they also have other options. On the night we visited the appetizers... More

This is our second time at Dolcetto. This was a pre-theater dinner. We arrived at 6 PM and the play was at 8 PM. the restaurant is about a 10 minute walk. We informed our waiter of this. The restaurant was not full and during our time there tables were arriving at an average pace. No rush or large groups.... More

Welcoming staff, delicious pizzas with seafood options. Amazing Gnocchi, extensive wine list, great service. Great location in the heart of Old Montréal.

We were there two weeks ago to celebrate the end of a wonderful 8 day vacation in Montreal. The food was excellent (we had pasta meals), the atmosphere electric and the service impeccable.

We really enjoyed the vibe of the place and the interaction that we had with our waiter. The choices for wine and beer were interesting although the food menu seemed a bit limited at a somewhat high price point. Nonetheless, the flatbreads incorporated tasty options for toppings and were fairly priced.

My wife and I stopped here the first night we arrived in Montreal, as it was close to the hotel, and we wanted something relatively quick. The menu items are sort of an Italian-French take on tapas, with small plates being the norm (including the pizzas, which are individual-size). We enjoyed the food, and the service was just fine. The... More

Me and my wife stumbled upon this place one evening while walking around St Paul and it looked good and smelled amazing so we stepped in. The food is tastey but very small (tapas size) and you end up paying more than you planned.

From the outside this restaurant appeared to have an interesting menu and nice ambiance. We were seated quickly, but initially surprised by the limited range of beer and wine available. Nevertheless we ordered, and then it became apparent that the food menu items were not normal size meals, which was certainly not clear from the menu. We continued to persevere,... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
