I cannot believe I had not visited Satay Brothers having lived in Montreal for decades and having ties with South East Asia. Oh my goodness, what an absolute treat to come for lunch at the Atwater Market location during the summer and early fall days. Do check for which days they are opened during the season at the market. I... More

The food we had was as authentic as I've ever tasted in North America and the beef rendang was so tender and tasty! We had great service throughout and were seated quite quickly, more quickly than I had expected. Thanks to the waiters for the great recommendations and the owner himself for coming out and chatting with us!

Listen, the concept, the colours and the atmosphere is right up there. It's a good idea, it's trending, it's hot. We maybe just didn't get the right service. I especially loved the decor all the way down to the golden kitty chop stick holders. I would recommend taking a table in the middle of the restaurant. We walked into the... More

I had previously visited the booth in the Atwater market, and this was my first time eating at the restaurant itself. We arrived before the supper rush, and were able to get a seat without a wait. The food was great, but atmosphere and service are definitely my take-aways from this place. I have food restrictions - and the waitress... More

We visited the stand in Atwater Market. It is definitely a nice place to come and have a quick nice lunch. Whether it is Asian food, this is up to debate, but worth a try.

Our take-away from here was delicious. Loved pork buns and papaya salad. The eat in restaurant looked enticing too. Next visit to Montreal it will be a must to eat in here.

Considering the good reviews, we decided to go there but we were really disappointed. The pad thai was blend, the chicken was dry and there was lack of flavors. They are open at odd hours in different locations. Make sure you call before going. The portions were very small. However the desserts were average.

My fiancé and I had a delicious, romantic dinner at Satay Brothers! We arrived before the Saturday evening rush. During the summer there is an additional location at the Atwater Market. On evenings when the market closes at 5 p.m., the restaurant continues at their Notre-Dame location in the St-Henri neighbourhood of Montreal, from 5 to 11 p.m. We feasted... More

I haven't been to Atwater market for years. Last time I was there, Satay Brothers was half the size. Glad to see that after growing almost double in size or more they still maintained the same great quality that I remembered. I had a pork bun, the sandwich of the day which was a South Eastern Asian Burger and chicken... More

Im a Canadian PR but am Singapore born and bred. So I know food from my little country extremely well. The date above is not accurate for I dropped by Satay Bros quite some time ago. At first, I was pleasantly surprised to find food from my country of origin. Then I tried the food and honestly, was rather disappointed.... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
