I was staying across the street at the Hilton Garden inn and wanted to duck into a coffee shop to sip and read my book on a rainy cold days. Pikolo did the trick! I drink coffee everyday anddon't consider myself a connoisseur, but I enjoyed my latte! The place is small so seating is limited.

So glad we found this little gem around the corner from our hotel. Went everyday that we were in Montreal. Sometimes twice a day. Great espresso and cappuccino! Highly recommend if you're nearby and need coffee!

If you are used to good coffee (ie. coffee that is equivalent to those you get in quality Melbourne, Australia establishment or you are a coffee snob) this is the best place to go to get your coffee. While this is not the best coffee (compare to coffee in Melbourne, I would rate this as ok) ever, it is definitely... More

The espresso is normal, nothing espectacular. The service was not good at all, I want to know the size difference between the "allongé" and the espresso and the bartender didin't want to tell me, I had to insist very much on it, and it's a question that I ask everyday and never had a problem before. The bartender did not... More

Best croissants we had in our week stay in Montreal. Steady stream of customers made the small coffee shop seem very busy yet not super crosded. The macchiato was perfect and blueberry muffin surprisingly moist with just the right sweetness.

Best coffee I had in Montreal, and I tried quite a few places. Steady stream of customers early morning. Lively atmosphere, and excellent chocolatines.

We came there to have 5PM coffee (after lunch). It was too hot so stay (NO A/C), so we had tale away. The coffee was very tasty, but the deserts were pretty dry (probably stand there from the morning).

The staff have attitude and diversity which add greatly to the ambience. This is matched by its excellent coffee, produce and tasty treats. Without doubt, this is one of the best places to drink a high quality and ponder on the finer and nobler things in life. Bring a book, a paper, pick up a perch and enjoy. There is... More

Great espresso and croissants though when I went my scone was underdone. However they gladly exchanged it when I asked. Felt like a locals' joint.

I lived in this neighbourhood for several months while in Montreal for business and Pikolo was by far the best cup of coffee around. There are plenty of "chain" coffee shops on the street, but if you want a well done cappuccino / latte / fresh pastries and good service, you won't be disappointed. The only drawback is that has... Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
