My wife and I went here as she is from Mexico and was itching for Latin food. This place did not disappoint. It's a small place. There is a sign-up list outside and you have to wait a good while to get in, but worth it.

The food was good, plate was full, gotta love the black beans and avocado sauce! My girlfriend is coeliac and did not have any issue. We went with our 2-year old daughter, there is one high chair. Would definitely go back

Have you ever tried Venezuelan food? Well, you're sure to like an arepera; a corn bread sandwich made with a variety of fillings. They have a delicious coriander sauce and a few fresh juices on the menu as well. The staff is very kind and the atmosphere is suitable for everyone, including families with young kids. Sometimes, they even have... More

Go early or wait in line for while. Fab black beans and plantain, and the arepa's are the best I've ever had. Good coffee at brunch too.

We were looking for a cheap ethnic place to eat during our first night in Montreal and were elated to find a Colombian/Venezuelan place called the Arepera. An arepa is a corn cake that both nationalities use to make sandwiches with. I must confess I had never had a good one until I tasted this restaurant's arepa! From there with... More

I went to Arepera on a dinner date after having heard many good things about it. It's very small and a bit noisy, but we were seated in a corner and still found it easy to converse. I ordered a full meal rather than just an arepa in sandwich form as I was rather hungry. It was a fair sized... More

This is a very good eating stop while visiting the Plateau. The specialty is 'arepas' -traditional tortilla-like food made of ground corn in Venezuela and Colombia- filled with a variety of traditional and savoury elements such as fried plantains, black beans, cheese, avocado, etc...which they offer in a great variety if combinations. Excellent friendly service.

The tortilla part of the arepa was delicious, but without the true Venezuelan cheese I can't give it 5 stars since I've had many in Florida. We got 3 arepas: chicken, pernil, and beef.  It was enough for 2.5 people.  It was a busy place at night so we got it to go and it took about 20 minutes.  There's... More

Missing some black beans and plátanos??? Maybe some yuca/ fried manioc??? Stop looking around. This place is delicious! The food is to die for. Latinos and non latinos will love it. The place is always full but it is so worth it. The ambience is great and the service is awesome.

Thank evilmarcia

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
