I read reviews describing this as restaurant, but this is a beer bar with a very basic carnival/open air festival food booth serving burgers, hot dogs, etc (no poutine!?). The beer is quite decent, but not spectacular (sidenote: a German speaking here...). A great place for a stop on a bike ride, but I would not go there for a... More

...unless you are cycling along the Lachine canal. It's a 20-minute walk to the nearest metro station and a two-block walk to a bus stop. So, make you you get there by car or Uber. Maybe Uber. You will be drinking a lot of beer, after all. Lol! The terrace itself is very large and full of GenY hipsters. Not... More

Went there on a great summer afternoon. The beer is good nothing spectacular... It is St Ambroise beer. But the place is really nice near the Lachine canal, you can stay there for hours. The terrace is massive

Lots of outdoor tables in the shade (or sun if you prefer!). We tried their Apricot Ale. It had just a hint of apricot flavoring - nice, light ale. There were many other brews available by the glass or pitcher.

First time this year in 2016 that I am going back there and so far, still that great ambiance, good looking place, nice setup and everything. Beer quality didn't change but, the nachos and burger I've had yesterday were much better than last year (in my memory). So, its a good place to go for having a beer outdoor, relaxing... More

What a fabulous find along the canal. It was recommended to us that we should visit St. Ambroise before we left town. On our way home, we stopped by for a beer and were very impressed. Don't be fooled by the parking lot--it looks like you are in a warehouse district--the back of the building sits right along the canal... More

We stopped recently for beer and lunch while cycling. The beer was good, as expected. There is no table service but I didn't really find that to be an issue You have to go to the bar to order and get your beer. You then have to go to another area to order your food and then back to pick... More

Don't come here exclusively for the food, they only serve hamburgers, hot dogs and nacho chips, all very standard and plain. But I love the beers, you can even get a taster's paddle, 6 beers to sample which is always fun. It's only open on days when it isn't raining, consisting of picnic tables and umbrellas scattered around outside. But... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
