Honestly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Great combo of atmosphere and food. Service was amazing.

Very good food. Funny that the look of their menu does not reflect how good the food is. I almost did not go in because the menu looked like regular cheap restaurant. Don't expect big dishes here (like the menu makes you believe). There is regular size dishes but very well done.

Dropped in for brunch. Service was spectacular, atmosphere was welcoming, food was very good. Cafe lattes tasted like the ones we had in Rome. I wanted something not on the menu and that was no problem: 2 eggs (poached in red wine!) on toast and it was perfect. We will be back for dinner. Highly recommend. Staff was truly exceptional... Stopped in here for lunch as they serve brunch all day! Small restaurant with great decor and atmosphere. Service was excellent. Food was delicious with just the right sized portions and was not overly expensive. It is a must try

One never knows what to expect in the heart of a tourist area. Too often food can be overpriced and service poor. Not Bocata. The food was not cheap, but well worth the price. Very generous selection of wines by the glass which were fairly priced (unlike many places which charge a premium for buying only a glass). Lobster pasta... More

When we were in northern Spain last fall, we had seafood almost every day if not twice a day. This resto served some of the dishes that reminded us of our travel. What struck us was the pimiento de Padron that was on the appetizer list. What a pleasant surprise to be tasting them again. In addition, we had the... More

Small intimate restaurant in Old Montreal with eclectic decor in what must be a very old building with exposed walls. Started the evening with interesting cocktails and appetizers. Fresh oysters and mini peppers fried with chorizo sausage bits. Both recommended. The two main courses that stood out were the Sea Bass and the house specialty Lobster Tagliatelle, both were delish.... More

Tiny rustic dining room which feels like you are somewhere in France. Small but varied menu. We enjoyed oysters, and squid risotto with lobster. Nice wine and friendly, excellent service.

We (2 adults and 17 and 13 year old boys) loved our dinner here. The restaurant is small and cozy. Decor is lovely. The food was outstanding. The boys had croquettes of beef and we all had oysters for starters. Salad was perfect and our pastas were fantastic. My husband said the lemon meringue he had for dessert was the... More

We were disappointed in the food. Ambiance was great, but my fish rillettes toast with avocado and poached egg cake with an avocado purée that tasted like what you get in a fast food place, and the egg was a hard-boiled egg, not poached. Those are 2 very different ways of cooking eggs, and you would think a restaurant like... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
