Thanks to TripAdvisor, I chanced upon this place and decided to give it a try and it was worth every positive review it has. Quite a small and slightly squeezy interior, but it was fairly empty when I was there at 8.30pm on a Thursday night. The cod fish was fresh, and the batter was crisp and tasty, and this... More

Nice little fish 'n chips restaurant. Different types of fish but obviously you go for the original with cod. Chips are soft, brown and taste like the old days. I liked the Burgundy Lion Ale blonde quite a lot. DJ must have a pretty creative mind. She mixes chart guts with rock music, soul music, Frank Sinatra and whatever she... More

The food was great. Portions much larger than expected. The staff were friendly and brought my food to my table. Metal cutlery and condiments provided. Atmosphere was urban and energetic for a medium sizes restaurant. I went for lunch and it was pretty packed in there. Parking (paid) available on the street.

This was a nice little find for a quick and easy on the go feed. The Home cut chips were amazing!. Not a lot of sitting space but well worth the visit just for the chips!

I'm a huge fan of fish and chips. I eat it whenever I can in a new city. The name of this restaurant was promising. I ordered the basic 2 piece fish and chips. The fish was dripping in grease and I felt as though the batter wasn't fully cooked. The fries were a bit soggy. The sole redeeming quality... More

I had a craving for fish n chips, so i dragged a work mate to Brit N Chips. I ordered Cod fish n chips. It was ok, the batter was way too thick and the fish was drowned by a lll the grease. The fries were good, but way too many were served. Smaller portions would be better, as opposed... More

The fish and chips are far superior to anything my partner and I sampled in London, I think it has to do with the sourcing of the food, especially the potatoes. My partner loved his fish, I'm a vegetarian and my heart dropped a little when i ordered the haloumi (fried cheese) because usually it's really boring, but the flavor... More

Relied on the rave reviews and expected the best. Ordered the combo (haddock and chips). A HUGE pile of fries with 2 rather small pieces of bland fish for $14. Felt cheated. If you love lots of fries, this is the place, but you would expect the fish to be the pièce de résistance. Complained to the manager, but it... More

We ordered cod and chips, deep fried what ever a la mode, and took home a pasty after visiting for a hockey game. Would definitely recommend.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
