Had a great time here, I am someone who loves to eat and doesn't mind footing the bill to eat great. Had a good experience at le hachoir, the only thing that didn't sit well with me is I ordered some expensive plates and I am someone who is a bit younger that being said I got my steaks before... We ended up in this place last weekend on Sat night and were planning to have drinks and a light meal to share...and sooo glad we decided to try it out! The service was amazing: we were greeted very friendly and seated by the window as we wanted to have the street view. The waiter explained the drinks and helped... More

Went there once with a friend of mine. Great place for tartare but if you dont like that the menu is pretty decent. I recommend and will go again. Great location as well on St-Denis.

I had a weird experience there on a late fall Saturday night.... Ordered the fried calamari as a starter, nice , fresh, crunchy WAY TOO SALTY! Not enough sauce to was served with it, I picked a fried capper from my friend's plate and that was SOOOO salty I thought my head would dry up like a raisin. After I... More

We have been going to Hachoir regulatory for the last few years and this is the first time I review it. I must say that both the food and service never dissapoint. My wife and I always stick to their tartare specialty and it's a success every time.

Great place! We had the grilled romaine salad and the wings for appetizer. The Kensington tartares were awesome! The whole wine list is based on private importations. Nice Spanish wines. Very good service as well. Great ambience, we recommend it :)

The wife and I both had a tartare and they were both very good. The service was very very slow especially since we went early and there wasn't many people in the restaurant. Prices are reasonable

We had intended to visit La Banquise for poutine, but the wait to get in was crazy, plus the average age of diners was about 20 years old. We had glanced at the menu for Le Hachoir on our way up Rue Rachel (it had a lovely decor with wide open walls so almost al fresco dining). They only serve... More

It looked very interesting, and the menu was intriguing. However, the service was extremely slow (only two serving on a busy night), the second beer I ordered never came, and the bacon was missing from my burger (which was otherwise delicious and cooked to perfection).

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
