This Montreal institution has been around for forty years and is located in the old port of Montreal. The restaurant in divided into two sections, the first floor and part of the second floor are the restaurant with a modern design within the 17th century structure with a warm ambiance. Upstairs, a more chalet-feel with a more intimate dining space and large event spaces for weddings and celebrations. They have a huge kitchen and serve a broad menu of fresh fish, lobster and steaks. They have something for everyone here. I always order a steak and potatoes when I am there. I also wanted to leave a review as a wedding planner as well. I held a wedding for 90 people with two choice of appetizers and four choices of the main course. They served everything perfectly in time, it was hot, it was good. I cannot recommend their services enough!

One of the most happening places in the old port area. The food is good, the ambience great. We had visited for a birthday lunch and the experience was great. The food was moderately priced, right portion sizes, and moderately priced for the Old Port area. Jonathan, our server was very attentive and caring. If you are looking for a good mid-day meal, don't miss out on this place.

We were spending our anniversary in Montreal and wanted a special meal. We’ve eaten here before, my husband loves their steak so we thought we would have our New Year’s Dinner here. The atmosphere was chaotic.. they were having a NYE buffet at 10:00pm and our dinner reservation was for 9:00 pm . So everything was rushed. Our appetizers came before our drinks and our meal came as we were finishing our appetizers. The good was great as usual but the service was terrible. We left as soon as we could. Almost spoiled our evening.

Not sure why so many people rated it so well…the food was drastically sub par for the expensive prices they charged ($50 filet mignon with 2 shrimp). Quality, amount of food and taste were all lacking. Left the rest of undercooked filet on the plate and the waitress didn’t even ask if it was ok, she just took it away. Also, the food presentation was blah to say the least. The terrace is basically a patio, make reservations to try and get a decent table, otherwise just walking in will land you near the back - dimly lit, staff entrance and recycle bins. My table for 2 on the pic below. Best thing about the place is that it’s in the tourist trap area of old Montreal - have fun.

So disappointing. I was last here several years ago when I organized a large event here. Rented out the entire restaurant with an approximate tab of $50k. My wife and I were looking forward to returning and booked a couple of weeks in advance on OpenTable. First we were greeted with indifference and seated in the absolute worst table in the restaurant where I almost felt I had to duck from the wait staff coming out of the kitchen. We felt like cattle, rushed in and out in 45 minutes with salads and mains. TBH I was thankful to get out of there that quickly. The food was ok, but the medium rare steaks needed another 60 seconds with a strip of blue in the center. It’s better than overdone, but pretty unacceptable for what is deemed a “higher end” steakhouse. Service was adequate, the only thing really contributing to the two stars. Best part of the night was finding cafe Olympico very nearby for coffee and biscotti.

Ordered a few appetizers, including the soup of the day and the escargots. These dishes were decent; nothing spectacular, but certainly tasty enough. The disappointment came with the main; the lobster linguine was very poorly cooked. The pasta was soggy, and the lobster was bland. What was most concerning that we witnessed was seeing what happened to another table. A mother and their child left the table to go to the washroom, with plates still full of food. The server came and removed the food, even though it was barely touched! They came back to find that their food had been removed. Overall, not a great choice given the many good restaurants that exist in Montreal!

Avoid this place. Went for a late lunch on Saturday. No one outside at the stand to greet us, so we went inside. Two hostesses at the desk. One with her back turned to us, and one eating an orange. Once we were greeted, we were seated promptly. We were given menus, and the waiter showed up soon after. We were not asked if we wanted drinks. We knew this was going to go sideways so just ordered food right away. Burnt chicken breast, cold fries, frozen hamburger patty. Waiter never did check back to see if we were enjoying our meal and we had to finally ask for the bill to the busboy as our waiter never showed up. Very disapppointing especially after some amazing meals and experiences in Old Town. Steer clear. Many other wonderful places to choose instead.

We had high hopes. It wasn’t *terrible* but it definitely didn’t deliver. The waiter was disappointed that we only ordered the small glasses of wine. The food was thrown together, not attractively presented. We sat for a long time with no attention from staff. We had great experiences at both Mondavi and Brasserie 701 and would recommend both of these old port restaurants over this place.

Horrible. We made reservations and waited. There was a family celebrating a 3 yr old’s birthday at night - they stayed past 9:30 and all the babies and toddlers were screaming at the top of their lungs incessantly. It would not have been so bad if the waiter or chef didn’t forget about us. One hour and our food only came after we complained to a different server. The waiter finally showed up and gave us a basket of bread and then dessert. When our meals arrived, everyone was just tired, had headaches and appetite diminished. My request for a well done steak arrived medium. Any other good restaurant would have listened to the PAYING customer. The waiter had even advised me to get medium well for a juicier steak. No one at One by Mark McEwan, Hy’s, or even Jacobs to name a few had ever said this to me, questioning my own preference. I didn’t return it as it was late and I didn’t want to wait again. So I ate the edges and gave the rest to my son, who disliked the bland seafood linguine. We each had a lobster tail, which was mediocre. I ordered two “jumbo” shrimps at $9 each, to receive larger but not big ones. My husband found his steak to be fine and after paying the $300 plus meal quickly left. Never again.

Visited with my husband for a late dinner on a Tuesday night, by no means we’re we dressed up but we were still dressed some what nice. It definitely felt like we were not being seem as their typical patron. There were other tables sat after us and served earlier and even just the attention our server did give us felt less involved. We had the crab cakes as an appetizer, my husband had the hanger cut steak and I had the lobster bisque and a Caesar salad. The crab cake was alright, I felt it almost had a toughness to it and sadly you only get one. My husband enjoyed his meal the steak was just a little under seasoned but cooked perfectly. When our food first arrived they forgot my salad, it took him a little while to come back and check on us but when he finally did they were very quick to grab me my salad which was nice. The soup was very good, I loved the large chunks of lobster and the flavor was very nice and creamy. The salad was good the croutons come as larger pieces so it was just a bit hard to break them up to eat easily. The server was nice enough to offer us a complimentary dessert, we went with the strawberry cheesecake. It was nice, definitely previously frozen as it still had some ice crystals in it but very nice of him to offer.

What a treat to sit in a delightful terrace and be served great drinks and steaks done to perfection. In addition to 3 perfectly cooked Filets I had the linguine with Lobster with a sumptuous lobster tail. All in al, a delightful evening in an excellent restaurant.

Friends and I had high expectations for this place, the host and server were very friendly and took no time to get us to our seats and get drink orders. It went down hill from there… We were hounded for our food orders, we barely had our coats taken off, somehow our food arrives 10 minutes after we ordered it, generally this would be impressive, but the food was so cold it was hard to eat. I would never send food back but this would have been the exception, if only a server would come by. No drinks were topped up, no 3rd bottle of wine ever showed up, then the $700 bill came and it was difficult justifying a tip. Big promises, no delivery.

This was the second time this tried this restaurant, the first time the meal was ok but the person who was supposed to be bringing our wine stopped to chat with a couple he knew so we had our wine 20 minutes into the meal. We went again last Saturday night, we were put in a table beside a huge table full of people and they had to squeeze in behind me and knocked my chair through our meal. I ordered a 6oz filet and I stated medium rare, when it was brought to the table it was raw inside and cold and the vegetables were hard. My husband was brought the wrong meal, he ordered half a lobster and a filet mignon, the waiter brought him steak & shrimp. So I ate my meal alone because they had to bring him what he ordered. As we had already complained he ate what he could and I should have taken a photo, it was a horrible over spiced meal with a steak that was full of grisel. When the waiter came I still had steak and vegetables on my plate because I couldn’t eat anymore raw meat and as I said the carrots were hard. When we were presented with the bill the waiter had them take off my husbands meal and the 2 rye and ginger ale he had which was a nice guesture but charged us for an 8 oz steak which is not what I had. We just wanted to pay and leave. It honestly was the worst mean I have ever had. The staff is nice though.

The outdoor seating space is very nice. We went for lunch and were quickly seated. The sanitary measures are well respectd (you need your vaccine passport), table are well distanced. The menu is varied. We ordered salads, salmon tartare (very tasty and well seasoned), some portobello mushrooms and a very good soup. Service was efficient considering that there is shortage of staff but we never felt rushed, nor left to ourselves. The waiter gave us good advice for the wine.
