A fabulous little tea-house with a fantastic menu filled with all sorts of interesting teas (with useful explanations). Additionally, they have a small food menu with some really delicious food. You can also get tea to go.

Large selection of teas, very affordable tastings ($5-10). We didn't buy any tea accessories, heard it was expensive. Worth trying this place in the beautiful old town.

An incredibly atmospheric, quaint, delicious tea house. Although I heard complaints from a friend (a tea connoisseur) that the tea was relatively low quality, to me it tasted perfect. The cookies were delicious and probably homemade. By far my favorite part was the multitude of pots and cups on display and for sale which serve as decoration for the tea... More

While walking around in Old Montreal, we found this little tea shop. Very quaint and cozy. Their tea-biscuits were yummy and they had lots of veggie fare to snack on. The server demonstrated the correct method to pour a traditional tea. Will definitely go there again

This shop is beautiful. An incredible selection of teas, teapots, and tea wear. We had tea and the owner described the benefits of the teas and how to prepare and drink them. We walked out taking a beautiful tea set with us as a souvenir (a little pricey but very worth the investment).

Very quiet and charming, perfect for a mid-afternoon tea. They have many exotic kinds, and it is presented beautifully. I got an oolong-ginseng tea, and it came with a teapot, cup/strainer, and two tiny cups. A gentleman came and demonstrated how to prepare and drink it (not quite as elaborate as a Japanese tea ceremony, but interesting and entertaining). One... More

After a tour of Old Montreal and the Old Port, we dropped into Ming Tao Xuan teahouse behind the Basilica Notre Dame, for some wonderful tea. The ambiance was tranquil, furnished with rosewood tables and chairs.. The owners provided exquisite traditional tea service from an extensive menu of fine Chinese teas. I sipped high mountain oolong, tiquanyin infused with ginseng,... More

I've enjoyed the tea service at Ming Tao Xuan now on two visits to Montreal. The owners are extremely gracious and patient, and for less than 10$ you can relax and enjoy any of a long list of traditional teas, served beautifully in a gorgeous setting. A delightful break in a long day of sightseeing.

We walked in and the first thing we were told is "no pictures" when I tried to take a picture of my family in front of the tea pots display. Then my 5 year old son went up to the counter to speak a couple of the Chinese words he learned in school to the waiter and he was told... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
