...for the rest of our weekend in Montreal! Based on other reviews, we made reservations at Toroli for our first night in Montreal. The place is just darling (only 6 tables). The hostess/server was welcoming and attentive, without hovering. We started with the miso soup and the beet salad (special of the day)....both were unbelievable. For our entrees, we had... More

I am so happy to review this place, really. In 10 days in Montreal, this is the first time I step out with an emotion from the eating experience I have had. The place first. No more then 18 seats, he's on the cooking, she will serve you with japanese kindness. Full view on the kitchen, it's like eating at... More

This place is small and inviting. 6 tables total in the whole restaurant. It's interesting because it's Japanese / French fusion. We totally loved it. We had the duck and the seafood fish roll (forgot the exact name). Both were amazing. Dessert was a rice cake with black bean. Also very very good! Would highly recommend this place if you're... The pictures on the website do not do the food justice but a picture is not a taste bud. The food here is inventive and off the charts besides having a beautiful presentation. I can't imagine anyone who loves inventive food and is acceptable of a wide style not loving this place. This is fusion food prepared by a magician.... More

The restaurant is very small, with an entrance that is not noticeable. So you would not find it unless you were looking for it. We had a pleasant dinner here. The 4-course fixed menu was good, even if fairly highly priced. The food was good: an interesting Japanese-French fusion. However, some dishes had a little too much teriyaki sauce, which... More

We went to Toroli expecting food in the $15-$20. bracket, as indicated on Trip Advisor. It was more like $20-$30, so we were at first taken aback. The warmth of the chef, courtesy of waiter and excellence of the food quickly made us fall in love with this sweet delightful home of fine food. Wonderful & welcoming!

We choose this restaurant because of the very good reviews it earned....it is even better and it is a small, cute piece of Japanese culture and tradition in Montreal. The courtesy and kindness are equal to the amazing quality of the food. Please do not go there if you think that Japanese food is just california rolls or basic sushi.

Finally an authentic Japanese chef with French twist in Montreal. Attentive service, tasty dishes, great tea selections. You can find great love and many details from the food. Interesting choices of ingredient , classic French presentation. Perfectly executed. P.S. This is NOT the place for a quick bite, nor chaotic crowd. Make plan to stay long.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
