Sooooo goooood. Buy everything. Reasonable pricing, amazing food and attentive service. I had vegetable dumplings, tofu ramen and kimchi. I would go back.

This is really a localized Japanese restaurant to me as the ramen I had appears to be varied for local taste. The shoyu soup base for my ramen tasted more towards being burnt than smoky and does not have the flavoursome taste of authentic shoyu soup base as one can find in Japan. Overall the ramen is just okay. Guess... More

Went with a friend at lunch craving for a rich, tasty ramen. I like spicy, and took the Volcano Ramen, extra BBQ pork, along with a side dish of kimchi. The broth was pork based, fatty, flavorful. My friend went safe, choosing the Won Ton Ramen. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal also. What could be better - cheap and delicious.... More

I was there back in August with my sister and friends. When I was in Montreal in the past, I have always tried to go to Sumo Ramen and had been a regular for years, but after last August, I have decided never again! We've seem to have had difficulties with the food before, giving us (my siblings and I)... More

Signature Sumo Ramen dish is excellent, with great broth and noodle texture. They offer a choice of portion sizes for most noodle dishes. The mini size is perfect for a late night snack without being too filling. Good quick service and a fun atmosphere make Sumo Ramen very popular with younger customers as a place to hang out for some... More

We were looking for a place for lunch before leaving town. I had the shrimp raman, it was a huge portion for the price!

I eat sumo ramen at least twice a week! The broth is so flavorful and the texture of the ramen on point. So many choices I never get bored.

I just went to Sumo Ramen at Montreal Chinatown location. Can't wait to write my review. I've been to this place few times with friends, always received bad services, I thought I should give them chances but I had enough. Every time I went there, the waitress rushes us to finish the meal. We were still eating and very obviously... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
