Come here! They were amazing. I asked for cheese, meat and bread and they served us the best platter I have ever seen. Highly recommended! Charlie, our server, was awesome!! Eclairs to die for. Well worth the price.

We enjoyed a cheese fondue with charcuterie platter. Very French feel. Interesting decor - that we enjoyed. The French music in the background added to the ambiance. Service was pleasant and very good. Food was very good. All in all a very nice lunch experience. I would go there again. I thought this was good value as well.

We are Montrealers and live in the Old Port. After passing by this charming restaurant for so many times, we decided to give it a try… We went there around 18:00 on a Saturday evening. First of all, BEWARE of the wine! Funny enough, they don’t give you a a wine card… The waitress said that a glass would be... More

Fantastic French bistro in old Montreal. Well decorated and I had my first but not last croque. Definitely recommended for a nice romantic lunch.

We waited for 15 mins to get a table and once we sat down we heard people from the table beside us complaining. The restaurant ran out of bread and several other menu items. The server never visited us after we were at our table for 20 mins. The whole place seems pretty kitschy - if there isn't an old... More

This is a fun restaurant with delicious French "comfort" food - things like French onion soup, croque monsieurs, crepes, fondue, quiche lorraine. Casual atmosphere, but sit down table service. It is a tight squeeze with tables and a hectic atmosphere with customers and wait staff. (The music was way too loud and added to the frenzy of the place -... More

Great selection of food includes succulent cold meats, pies and cheeses to satisfy hungry and discerning palates. Produce nicely displayed for browsers. Busy and pleasing environment not far from the river and well worth a visit.

I passed by this place on rue St. Paul intending to visit another spot, but I was instantly attracted to the warm glow from inside the restaurant so I stopped in and was not disappointed. It just feels comfortable and inviting with the warm candles, eclectic décor, memorabilia and bric-a-brac. The service was prompt after I used my limited French... More

My wife and I had lunch at Marché de la Villette in early January. Many of the travel-website-recommended eateries were closed at this time of year, or just closed forever, so we ended up at this wonderful boucherie/charcuterie. The Marché is a paradise for lovers of prepared meats. We thought we’d split a standard plate of various meats, but the... More

My husband and I went for brunch and the place was a hopping in a very cold Sunday morning. Staff are pleasant and I liked the ambiance. I had the cassollettes and was disappointed. The potatoes lacked flavour although the other ingredients were ok. My husband had a panini type sandwich and salad which was fine. Great coffee and lattes.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
