The salmon tartar was everything. The cocktails were even better. The atmosphere was cool and the servers were fun and fast. Have been back a couple times but first reviews. Must try in a city of restaurants

Getting in late to our stay in Montreal we went to Le Local for dinner who thankfully took our party of 6 with no waiting. Let me start by stating 3-1/2 out of 5 would be a better rating. The food was very good. We mostly had Canadian Hanger Steak cooked to various levels of doneness. The steak was well... More

My boyfriend and I visited to treat ourselves to a nice meal on our trip to Montreal, recommended by the owner of the B&B we stayed at. This is a very cool place, decorated nicely inside, a great atmosphere. My only complaint is that it was freezing! I wasn't the only person in the place with my coat over my... More

We visited this restaurant as part of Mtl a Table week. I never been there before. First of all the place, the ambiance is great. Service was good - nothing especial, nothing bad. But the food.... OMG! It was so good from the first to last bite. Incredible. They truly deserve to be called one of the best restaurants in... More

I came here with a motherly figure in my life hoping to treat her and I got everything in expected! Service was strong (although there was just a little too long of a gap between our apps and mains) and the waiter did so well in English and French, I was impressed. The wine like was fine and had a... More

Very consistent food. The salmon tartar is the best in town. We come to Montreal every month and we come here every time.

We were recommended by the concierge at the Westin. I was So impressed I almost teared up a bit while eating the starters. Everything we ordered came out perfectly. We started wth the Beet salad accompanied by fresh goat cheese, pancetta, and a beautiful poached egg ball coated in panco and fried. We also had a side truffle oil poutine... More

I had a business dinner at Le Local recently and was not disappointed by their service and offerings. Their menu changes often so when you go there, be adventurous and try something new.

Outside the old town the restaurant has a nice terrace and a very nice deco giving a nice ambiance to the interior restaurant. Food was well prepared, nicely presented and very tasty. The restaurant was full on a sunny day so better call for reservation during the summer. But skip the coffee as it was burned

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
