Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was told this was the best place in town for breakfast. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we could not eat in, but only take out. I have pretty much opened the place, being the first customer on Saturday morning at 9 am. It was smelling like Heaven: fresh croissants and cakes, fresh oat milk and healthy drinks. My favorite was the ricotta cheese with orange zest. The first bite took me to South of Spain...

They currently only do take out but it is worth picking up some food for brunch or lunch. The grilled cheese and Italian sandwich we ordered were delicious, made when you order. The coffee is also great. There weren't too many people when we went on a rainy Sunday, but I've seen line-ups at other times.

This was our second visit, this time with our teen kids. We went on a Wednesday at opening as they don’t take reservations and we didn’t want to wait in line long. Got in 15 minutes later. Solid brunch place with delish panini. Their poached egg panini is delish, but does not have a non-spicy option (it was quite spicy). For this, I deducted a star, as there wasn’t a lot of similar options. I don’t love the fact that they don’t take reservations. I would have gladly provided a credit card to reserve a more convenient time.

Judging from the number of people in and lined up for this restaurant it is very popular but for me represents what I do not like about restaurants. It is small with tables very close to each other, noisy and very expensive - $15 for a grilled cheese sandwich with ketchup - no other accompaniments. The food was fine - nothing special though. Mainly a younger crowd so being older I guess I come from a different value system.

The food is really good but pricey. The service is not so good. The cashier seemed stressed out. Our 7 year old daughter needed to go to the bathroom and they wouldn’t let her go. They proposed we walked 10 minutes away to use a bathroom elsewhere. Public safety rules do not prevent them for allowing access to their bathroom. After spending 120$ including 15$ of tip even if they only serve take out it’s pretty frustrating. Not likely to go back ever.

Maybe I went on an off day, but so much hype and such a let down. There was a line out the door, but because we are 2 people, we got in fairly quickly and sat by the windows, which I totally recommend. The view of Old Montreal is a street, but you never know what you will see so I liked the window.
The presentation of the coffee and food was really nice (see photos), but the dirty chais we got were all espresso and no chai taste at all. They were nowhere close to the dirty chais we got at Universel, which we liked so much we got them twice! (see my review on this restaurant). I got a grilled cheese which had so little taste, it took me by surprise because there is so much hype around this restaurant.
I would have given it two stars, but my daughter LOVED her food and our server was attentive and really pleasant. My daughter ordered the cuban, and after tasting it I realized I ordered the wrong thing. We didn't finish our coffee, instead going across the street to Crews Coffee (see my review). There are so many other places that do an amazing brunch/breakfast...try those first or order the Cuban :-) Oh also, we ordered an apple turnover and it looked scrumptious, but the filling was lacking and it was just meh, not bad, not great...I had so much better at other places in Montreal.

From the moment we approached the bakery: cafe you can smell the fresh-baked pastries and see the bustling energy of crowds eagerly waiting outside to be seated. We walked into place our name and we were promptly happily greeted with a bonjour! and informed it would be a 15-minute wait and we could grab some freshly brewed coffee while we waited to be seated. We moved over to the bakery line for some much-needed coffee. As our coffee was being brewed our table became available. We sat down and our coffee was quickly brought to our table. The ambiance of the cafe, the friendly staff, and the incredible staff really set the tone for our wonderful trip.

We stumbled across this cafe during a walk to the Old Port. The cafe hadn't opened when we arrived but it did open bang on time at 9am (there was a queue waiting to gain entry so we knew that it must be popular). When we received the food we found out why. My wife had the granola which she said was one of the best she had ever tasted and so filling that we didn't need lunch. I had the egg salad panini which again was delicious. The coffee was excellent too and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Prices were reasonable too. Would heartily recommend.

My significant other and I were told to visit due to the amazing food. It was so great, 5/5 for food. However the service was a 1.5/5. We had to ask to order as we were not greeted, we did not receive cutlery or napkins until we asked half way through our meal and we really never saw our server again. I also then had to ask for the deserts we ordered and the bill… the tip we left was undeserving. I’m not sure if this is emulating European style, as they squish as many people in this place as possible but the service was pretty much non existent. We understood the restaurant is busy but if you are charging $25 for a breakfast sandwich with no sides you can afford to put another server on the floor to help with tending to guests.. eating sandwiches with no napkins? I would recommend take out so you don’t have to deal with this non sense.

Ate at both StPaul and new Time Out market locations over the weekend , fabulous food and great staff on each occasion . Nice and delicious twists on classics , plus the vibe is warm fun and friendly . Very polished for a startup and the new location at Eaton center !

We could see how busy the restaurant was from a block away, but the friendly staff politely quoted us a 20 minute wait and told us our name would be called if you wouldn't mind waiting out front. As busy as the place seemed, I would have been surprised if we only waited 20 minutes, so I was pleasantly surprised when our name was called after 15.
The staff worked efficiently despite being crowded by customers. They have a good menu offering twists on classic breakfast options, a nice selection of pastries, and a range of coffee drinks. We each had breakfast and coffees, and enjoyed all of what we ordered.
I would recommend Olive & Gourmando to anyone in Montreal looking for a nice breakfast.

This is probably my favorite place we ate in all of Montreal and we ate at a lot of fantastic places. I was there with three others and we all have different tastes but everyone was so happy. I got the smashed potato salad and the flavor was out of this world. We shared chocolate and regular croissants and they were both comparable to the best croissants I've had in France. The brioche dejeuner (like a brioche french toast) was amazing and the granola was also delicious. The prices are a touch high for what you might normally pay for breakfast but it was absolutely, 100% worth it for how fresh and delicious it is. Good portions too. The coffees are a little small, so size up if you're a big coffee drinker. My only regret is we weren't able to eat here every morning.

Always very busy so expect a wait at peak times. A bit loud inside but great staff and food. We sat at bar seating looking outside and had Sam which we, salads, grilled bread and add an egg. Wine and mixed drinks were great too. A nice late lunch spot for us.

Visited Olive+Gourmando for breakfast. Have to admit: we got to know this place by the Netflix series: “somebody feed Phil”, but it’s totally worth your visit. Be there on time, I recommend 15-20min before it opens at 9am, to avoid long(er) waiting times for seating. We were on time and could go in directly at 9am. Coffee and Food are just great: best croissant I have eaten in a long time (coming from an European traveller out of a country with many bakeries) and the Sconewhich is also just delicious, you need to taste that! Prices very reasonnable. It’s a shame we didn’t stay one night longer in Montreal to have another breakfast at Olive+Gourmando and taste some other things on their menu. Highly recommend this place!

Wonderful pastries, bakeries and sandwiches. A very popular location, know you'll need to wait for a table...but that you can pick up some food to enjoy on one of the benches outside or in one of the nearby parks.
