After hearing much about this beautiful bakery, my sister, brother-in-law and I decided to purchase all the desserts for our Mom's 95th birthday party at Rahier. The service was impeccable and the lady helping us made excellent suggestions. We were thrilled with our choices and our guests were speechless. As our centrepiece we had a magnificent croquembouche which was fresh,... More

Rahier has outstanding sandwiches and pastries. Our favs are the chocolate croissants, but fear not, we haven't met a pastry in Rahier that we didn't love!

Visit this place on weekly basis. They have the best croissants in the city. They have different variety of pastries that you can choose from. They also have small selection of in the house made sandwiches, that they are to die for. If you looking to have a treat this is the place you must go.

We have been buying pastries and quiches for years from this small french bistro and bakery. All excellent. Have yet to find better quiche or brioche in Toronto. Chocolate desserts are heavenly

Too many last minute details and forgot the cake! Rahier saved Mother's Day. A delightful chestnut mousse cake provided the perfect finish to a perfect day. The mousse cake was light and moist, decorated with chocolate pastilles and ribbons. We served it with fresh berries and it was enjoyed by all.

Once a very fine boulangerie and patisserie, over time, the ho hum Leaside crowd ' tastes forced it to accommodate its environment, like a Darwin textbook study. Baguette lost its crust, like a cat without its claws, and the patisserie got softer, sweeter, and less Francois. Bon, c'est la vie, and their patisserie / desserts are good overall. But if... More

Every year we travel to the south of France & indulge in wonderful French café crème & pastries - & we can continue this indulgence every day if we wish right here in Toronto. Their pastries are as good as the ones in France - in fact when we indulge ourselves with café crème & pastries at Rahier, we sit... More

Quickly picked up two sandwiches for a picnic... Figured that a bakery with such tasty pastries would come through. I would be that they were made days prior as the contents were wilted and dry. Bread tasted like refrigerator. Very disappointing.

The inhabitants of Davisville and Leaside are fortunate in that La cigogne and Rahier are in the same block on Bayview. This afternoon I dropped in on Rahier and was rewarded with some very good pastry. The espresso was also good. The space is a bit less inviting than La cigogne's, but that shouldn't matter much.

Rude staff, extremely rude staff. Just a few meters away is cigogne and the food is better and staff much better.

Staying in East York

Neighbourhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
