Were in town for a jays game and found this little spot just east of Yonge-Dundas Square. Not a large place but quite comfortable with good down home food. Highly recommend the burgers or the meat load. Drink prices well under $10 which is nice in Toronto. Wish I had room for deserts. I would go back again. Dinner for... More

We had a nice breakfast here in this diner style restaurant that has the distinction of being the oldest restaurant in the city. The service was good, our waitress was friendly and kept the coffee coming and it was right near our hotel! Would definitely come back!

My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful French breakfast upstairs here on Sunday and I would highly recommend it! We would have preferred to be downstairs for a regular breakfast but due to time, we opted to go upstairs. We were not disappointed! The server Rachel was fabulous, very attentive and knew the menu. The coffee was delicious! I drink... More

The staff and other customers really made me feel welcome! Just like family. What a great place! Sat at the bar as the place was packed, and ordered the Real Good Plate because it offered a little bit of everything. The pancakes, toast, and bacon were wonderful. Will definitely return if I can.

Located a block off Yonge Street, close to everything, this place has really great food and a fun, friendly staff. Don't let the outward appearance throw you off, as this truly is an old time diner. They have offer a terrific menu selection from fresh mussels to one of the best Carbonaras I've eaten anywhere! Excellent choice for a tasty... More

How many times have I passed the Senator over the years. Off the main drag and famous for it's upstairs jazz, today I realized how much I've missed over the years. Went in around 1pm, during lunch hour, and in spite of it being so full, they managed to give me a snug both. I ordered the creamy crag meat... More

We came here based on the trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. We had come for breakfast. I had pancakes and bacon and my partner had eggs benedict. His portion was massive. And the bacon on it was beautiful. I had pancakes and they were huge. We couldn't finish our meal but we wanted to. If we were ever... More

Went there for breakfast, had to return for dinner. Entire staff was friendly, fun and engaging. Delightful and delicious Sunday breakfast experience. Just had to return for dinner before attending Mirvish Theatre across the street. A return to yesteryear's friendly neighborhood diner experience. All are welcomed and this was a real treat.

This restaurant has a large menu to choose from and their are daily specials as well. The service was efficient and friendly; the food was well-cooked and appetising; and the drinks selection was large. My husband enjoyed the fish dish of the day (caught from Lake Ontario), and I had the mac and cheese dish. We saw the fish and... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
