On Easter Sunday we went to the Hot House for the Sunday Brunch. It was a great experience, the band was an added plus. There is a great array of foods, including an omelet station. The deserts are to die for. We made the trip in from Ancaster and it was worth the trip. The staff are friendly and helpful,... More

(Skip to the steak if you don't want to read the whole review) I went here for my birthday, impressed by my last visit. I regretted it the moment I tasted the food. Whoever was cooking that night had no clue how to season. We started with the truffled crostinis. Truffles are my favourite, but their flavour was barely a... More

We dined here last night prior to a show at the St.Lawrence Center. The tagliatelle pasta with scallops, shrimp and tomato sauce, and with lobster/crab cream sauce were both tasty, and served steaming hot. We washed it down with a half liter of Australian shiraz and espressos, all for about $100, taxes and tip included. The service was prompt and... More

Okay so we didn' eat so I can't comment on the food. However the atmosphere was not what we were looking for. It is like an Olive Garden with plastic menus, (Was there pictures of the food on them?), bright lights. There was a girl on a scooter - actually scooting around - that's when I said - kids -... While on a weekend trip we stopped at the hot house for a quick lunch. We had the chipotle mussels as an appetizer, pizzas and ravioli. Everything was great but the one thing that stood out was the amazing service. The waiters were highly educated about the offerings and were able to make recommendations based on our personal taste. I'd... More

Was there with a group of 4 and all had different dishes. All were really enjoyable. Was convinced to try the Wild Boar Bolognese and was extremely pleased. Spent some time at the bar prior to the dinner and the bartenders were fantastic and informative. Was very impressed at the way management handled one patron who was a bit unruly... More

This place serves 40 people very efficiently and effortlessly. They were very helpful and the owner went out of his way for us. The food was pretty good. The salad starter lacked enough ingredients give it a higher rating. The chicken was nice but the vegetables lacked freshness. Overall a nice place to go if you have a big group... More

Having read excellent reviews about the Hot House restaurant I thought it would be a nice place to take my boyfriend for his birthday. The restaurant is in a nice, convenient location, with bars close by for after dinner drinks. The restaurant ambiance reminded me of one of those American restaurants -- large space with large tables scattered all throughout... More

The Hot House Restaurant & Bar is one of the busiest restaurants in Toronto and the reason is clear... Great food. The Hot House offers spacious, colourfully decorated rooms and an upbeat atmosphere in addition to an eclectic menu to suit all tastes. The Hot House Restaurant & Bar also has an extensive selection of wines from around the world, as well as an impressive cocktail menu and a selection of offerings from Canadian microbreweries. The sun-drenched 150 seat patio at the Hot House is an excellent setting to sample some fine Italian wines, Canadian craft beers, or the one of the best mojitos and margaritas in the city. Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
