Came here for an early dinner and was absolutely delighted with the food. I got the Hungarian style pancake with goulash, which was delicious! The potato dumplings with meat, perogies, and the paprika stew (which others at the table got) were also very very good. Very large portions for the price. Will definitely come back here again!

Ordered the cabbage rolls filled with mushrooms, borsht soup with pork dumplings, and 6 pierogis filled with cheese and potato - every single dish was a masterpiece! Full of flavour and absolutely delicious! Split all this food with another person and we were quite full! The prices were reasonable too. Will definitely be going back to try a few more... More

Make sure you are hungry. Portions are huge, always leftovers to bring home. Extensive menu, tried many dishes and specials, all are delicious!! Highly recommended. Make reservations during peak hours or you will wait in line.

Visited recently with 3 friends. We started with a selection of pierogies: 6 mushroom and sauerkraut; 6 cheddar and potato. The pierogies arrived with a very tiny cup of sour cream and an equally tiny one of pork and onions. Pierogies were ok; not anywhere as tasty as ones I had in Poland. There was far too little sour cream.... More

Polonez is our go to polish restaurant now! We have tried many but polonez beats them all with the quality and freshness of all the home made dishes! If your coming to polonez you will feel Like you're eating your babcia's (grandma's) cooking! The portions are quite large so you will have left overs for later! And the prices are... More

My Polish girlfriend brought me here for lunch. It was a Saturday, and it was super busy. We managed a table for 2 with no wait, which was a lucky break I think. This place was packed.. tables very close together.. very busy. We wanted a bit of everything, so we ordered a platter for 2, with a side of... More

Always up for trying new places to eat, I was cruising the west end after work. I googled cabbage rolls in Toronto and Cafe Polonez popped up. I love good hearty food that sticks to your ribs. What better choice in January then Polish or Ukrainian food. Cafe Polonez did not disappoint. We were seated immediately even though the restaurant... More

Dinner at Cafe Polonez is like having a meal prepared by your Eastern European relatives. Potato pancakes, perogies, schnitzel and vegetables done to perfection!

One bite brought me back 40 years, I actually forgot what real perogies, cabbage rolls and kapusta tasted like, just like back at the farm with my polish grandparents. The meal was absolutely perfect, the service was great even though it was jammed solid on a Saturday night. by the time we were done eating, people were lined up out... More

The restaurant is very small, we had to wait 30 minutes to get a table but it was worth the wait! The portion sizes were very generous. I had a combination plate: a bouquet of salads, Paprishka Stew with a side of carrots, and potatoes. It was delicious. Fantastic homemade food. I had a side of perogies also, 2 cheddar... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
