Used Trip Advisor to locate a cheap place to eat with good reviews. I decided to take the small walk from the Novotel Hotel I was staying at, to the Patrician Grill. Sat at the counter and ordered coffee and a Western Omelet. While waiting for my order I was checking out the list of alcoholic beverages offered on the... More

Friendly, clean and simple. Compared to shiny new buildings this place looks a little shabby. Don't be fooled as it's simple genuine home cooked food is great. It's not Michelin starred, nothing is 'reduced' or 'drizzled' but it's fab.

Me & my Girlfriend went there for breakfast yesterday & the food was brilliant we sat at the counter on the rotating stools real local type feel but tourists made very welcome by Terry & Chris. Make sure you ask Terry for a story they are entertaining. I had a good old style plain chocolate shake with me brekkie that... More

A diner from the past. The food is always great anytime of the day. Terry and his staff are very friendly and fun to listen too. Terry has a great collection of his own music that he plays in the restaurant. This restaurant is in the King and Sherbourne area of Toronto, close to George Brown College. My husband and... More

Blast from the past...diner with booths or sit-at counter. Not fake-old. Been there a long time. Basic fare...good brunchy, breakfasty menu.

The food is so good that I went there twice. The boss guessed that I don't want bread and modified the dish on the spot and chose the beer for me. Too bad they accept only cash - very inconvenient for foreigners. If you doubt my identity, why not ask for an ID?

The boss is not overplaying the "is everything ok for you?", running after customers and tips. He just makes it happen, being here and there, all into his business. I liked the real and the truthfulness of the place. It is not the to die for breakfast, but it is worth going in. Prices are cool, food is good and... More

I asked Siri where was the best place to have breakfast in downtown Toronto and it directed me here. I took public transit, getting off at King Street subway station. It was several blocks but it did not take long to walk there. Upon arrival, I asked for their breakfast plate, which was prepared and served quickly. The meal was... More

I came to Toronto with my partner. He took me there for breakfast, this was the best American breakfast I ever had. Quick service and friendly people. A must try.

This really is a vintage feeling diner and except when the students are rushing out of surrounding George Brown College classrooms, you can usually get a seat. Prices are great for your basic breakfast fare. Great place to duck into when visiting the famous St Lawrence Market area.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
