My wife and I ate at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Toronto on the evening before the Grey Cup (the Canadian equivalent of the Super Bowl), which was being played in Toronto. We were thankful that we made a reservation, as the place was doing (by the account of our waiter) at least 50% more business than normal for a... More

Great atmosphere. Staff were great. Portions fantastic. Great wine list. A bit on the pricey side BUT all in all a great dinner.

Ruth Chris has been over rated for years but they still continue to maintain some market share in North America. We have been to two locations and regardless of the location you will find almost everything swimming in either butter or sugar. There are much better steak places in Toronto with much better prices! For two with one drink each... More

I have been to many Ruth Chris Steak Houses in North America and the food and service is always excellent. My only complaint is it is a little pricey so if you don't mind that and want a good experience, this is a good place to go.

Food was mediocre at best. Butter laden ribeye steak, asparagus with Bernaise and some overdone shrimp on a skewer. Nothing special at all. Ordered a martini before dinner and was served a well prepped martini with a giant chip in the glass - which ended up in my mouth. When reported to our overworked waiter, he replaced it with apologies.... More

I've avoided going to this place since it opened int Toronto over 20 years ago. Someone gave me a gift card for my Birthday and I finally decided to give it a chance. Honestly, I've had better steaks in many other restaurants. I was not really that impressed. Now that i've been, I don't need to go back.

Let's get straight down to brass tacks. A couple of times a year I go to a high end steakhouse to eat an amazing steak. I have been to several places in Toronto, and because I was given a gift card, decided to try Ruth's Chris. I always order the New York Strip, it is my favourite cut of steak.... More

Ruth's Chris is conveniently located in the Hilton Hotel. Steak is the speciality, but I had the Voodoo Shrimp, which was pretty spectacular. Service and ambience is top quality. Best of all: half price happy hour on small dishes before 7pm!!

I've never had a bad meal at any of the Ruth's Chris locations I've visited and Toronto was no different. The steak is fantastic, but so is the seafood. The servers were top tier.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
