Our waiter was friendly and impressively knowledgeable about the menu and the wide variety of beers on tap. The half pint of beer I had was fine; the halibut and chips were okay but nothing special, not to be compared, for example, with what's available at the Olde Yorke on Laird. The space is rather dingy, and sitting outside was... More

My wife and I decided to give this place a try as we were going next door to the Danforth Music Hall next door. What a pleasant surprise!!! I ordered the Quail which was one of the dinner specials that evening, and my wife had the Butter Chicken. We were both amazed at how delicious they were. As we gazed... More

We visited Allen's for lunch with friends, who knew a hamburger could be so delicious! I was very impressed and will definitely plan another visit. The service was friendly and prompt. The ambiance was great. Can't wait for summer to try out the patio and another burger!

We ate at Allen's during their Steak Festival. I had the Morrison from Summerside PEI. Highly recommended! It's expensive but it was a bday celebration. We all ordered a side. Food and service were excellent. Wine was OK. I look forward to checking out the patio when the snow goes away.

My wife and I went to Allens for lunch with our neighbors who are also good friends, a few days before we took off for the winter. They are regulars here and they recommended the hamburgers. We were not disappointed. The burgers were over an inch thick and prepared exactly how we ordered them. They were juicy and tasty. It... More

Had not been here in years and decided to meet an old friend there since we used to frequent the place. It had only changed for the better. Still busy. Still lively. Still sporting the checkered table cloths. The food was actually better than I remembered and the service was notably friendly, knowledable and efficient. They claim their burgers are... More

Allens is a busy place not far from Broadview Station. Seating is comfortable and it's unpretentious. The menu has excellent versions of pub food from fish and chips to steak. Very extensive beer selection. The burgers rate with the best I've had anywhere. Service is very good and more professional than expected for a pub. Back patio is pleasant in... More

This was our second time to Allen's. It's got terrific atmosphere. Lovely setting. Great bar. Terrific liquor selection. All wines seem to be Ontario, and some are good. Very good selection of beers on tap. But the feed, well, in our experience it was not up to the rest of place. We shared a caesar salad, which as very good.... More

I come to Allen's for the capon wings. Imo they are the best wings in toronto. We had the burger one time and it was shaped like a baseball. I had to cut it in half to make it edible on the bun. If the chef wants a tip on how to stop that from happening I will provide! They... More

I have been to Allen's a few times now. This review is a summary of my experiences. Allen's is a popular and centrally-located pub in Toronto. Prices are expensive with $24 entree's, food is usually tasty, and service is pushy and filled with attitude. On my most recent visit I decided to order the burger. The Allan's menu calls it... Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
