Wandered in an a rainy day, warmed up with an Americano, and a box of chocolates. Really enjoyed the unique flavors...especially the Thai coconut! So different, and creative. I would definitely go back next time in Toronto!

I went to Soma just after it opened in the Distillery District of Toronto, had the spiced hot chocolate, and have been back every time I visit TO for that cup of chocolate heaven!. I've had the opportunity to have really superlative chocolate from many places, but Soma's is the best. Always busy, particularly leading up to the holidays like... More

The moment you walk into Soma Chocolate the aroma will let you know that you are in one of the best hand crafted chocolate establishments in Toronto. Amazing choices, no sugar chocolate, and spices you would never think go with chocolate. Worth the prices.

The truffles are excellent with a wide variety of selections. And the spicy Maya chocolate drink is my personal favourite. We always make sure to stop here when in the Distillery District.

Chocolate is amazing, a little gem for chocoholics! Gelato is so good, all fresh ingredients, home-made. Try the dark chocolate or the basil/mint. Divine!

As soon as you walk in, the smell of chocolate welcomes you inside. On the left, you see where the chocolate is made and on the right, you can purchase the finished truffles. I personally love buying their chocolate bars, which are made from various cacao beans from around the world. The gelato and hot chocolate are also delicious and... More

I bought sugar free chocolate for my diabetic husband. Excellent. I (the non diabetic loved the chocolate. A little expensive but worth it.

Where to even start with this place...everything is amazing. The shot of spiced hot chocolate is incredible. All of the chocolate is amazing. However, some of the "peripheral" products are just mind blowing. The coconut clusters, chocolate covered toffee with lemon and pistachio, "old skool", shortbread aren't chocolate products per se, but are mind blowing. The roasted white chocolate bar... More

This little shop sells amazing handmade chocolates. There is a great selection of various chocolate bars and single pralines. The quality is top notch. Hot chocolate, for kids among us, is delicious too. We never miss an opportunity to indulge in their creations whenever visiting the Distillery.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
