Despite what Trip Advisor says about Kirei's hours, this restaurant is closed and appears to have been closed since some time in April. We went there last night and found a totally empty building with signs on two windows indicating there will an auction of the restaurant equipment.

Needed some fuel after a morning of sightseeing! This spot is a hit! Got the California roll and dragon roll. Very tasty. The miso soup was very flavorful as well! Overall, very good eats!

We were staying at the Holiday Inn around the corner and wanted some late night dinner. Based off reviews we decided to order from this place. We ordered three specialty rolls and two house salads and walked over to pick up. We were super impressed. The house salad was huge and the husband and I could have split one easily.... More

Nicely decorated, traditional style rooms in the back. The seafood was excellent. Best Takoyaki I've had.

We have been here multiple times for dinner in small groups or as a couple. The sushi is consistently wonderful. The service is also consistently poor. During a last visit, a waiter in training was scolded in front of us while we were dining, we had to flag our server down or walk over to get him for things we... More

We were looking for somewhere to eat for an early dinner and decided to walk down Church street to see what there was. We stumbled upon this sushi place. From the outside it looks like a standard restaurant but once you walk inside the interior is very high class. Since we came for an earlier dinner the place was fairly... More

I have been many times in Japan, and I was happy to find the exact same dishes in Kirei. First, they have traditional Japanese sitting areas, which are great! you take your shoes off and enjoy a private atmosphere. The food itself was delicious: even the oyster shot (non alcoholic) was very tasty! We ordered many of the sushi items... More

Was here for a bit of a special dinner with a teenager who loves sushi. Kirei gives a great dinner experience, attractive decor, a varied menu, and a good kitchen that does some creative things with high-quality ingredients. I found the service was a bit random, as the staff seemed to share accountability (which rarely works well). But it was... More

There are so many good sushi restaurants in Toronto that there seems no particular reason to go to Kirei. The food, though reasonably priced (as is the wine) and quite generous in quantity (at least in the bento dishes we had), is neither very flavourful nor, on the day we were there, as fresh as it could be. Service is... More

I have been to this place a handful of times as it is convenient to my house an the food has been consistently average, with fairly good ambiance. Today my visit was much worse. I asked to sit on the patio and if it would be possible to put up an umbrella (there were several that I could see were... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
