A perennial favourite just down the street from Le Select and Marben - and just around the corner from all those entertainment district restaurants. Mussels were volunimous and tasty. The pad thai similarly so. The Arugula salad surprises with prosciutto, shaved parmesan and cashews. Te makhani is top notch. Very good burgers and fries. It's a pub. A friendly pub... More

Came in for a #grilledcheesetuesday snow day visit. Food was great and the bartender was awesome! I noticed there is prime rib on Sundays -- I hope I'm back in Toronto to try it.

I was that guy lurking in the corner eating alone (was visiting on business). Staff was really nice. Food and drinks were reasonable and Hit the spot. Gnoccchi and Caesar salad. Yum. As Celine Dion once said: "Hey Buddy, you're creeping out the regulars"

I hadn't had a hot Toddy in years but it fit the bill. We also had stouts, cinnamon tea and a communal 'S'mores dessert. They provided us with the fortitude for the last leg of our trip home. We'll be back, maybe for your special Sunday roast, but please don't seat us next to the noisy table next time.

My company had our holiday party last month and I must say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there! The food and drinks were amazing and came out in a timely manner. The overall experience was excellent. Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a memorable night. Gary was serving our party as well as another and he was able to entertain... More

Was here for lunch with a large group (20 people). Lunch was excellent, but as expected with a large group, we had quite a wait for our food. The only problem was that 2 members did not get their lunch until a good 20-25 minutes after everyone else. They gave us free brownies to make up for this. Brownies were... More

Found it by chance strolling along Wellington St. We are slightly older than the bar crowd but decided to try it. Immediately felt we made the right choice, greeted by charming hostess, shown to window table in dining room (there is a separate bar area). Excellent service, great food: seafood special that our server recommended. Reasonably priced, will definitely go... More

My very first visit to Bar Wellington was last night, we were a group of twelve and I can't say enough about how great of a time we all had. I'll start by recommending the double Caesar, excellent drink. Everyone in our group enjoyed their entrees, which is unusual in a large group, there were burgers, prime rib, seafood pasta, steak... A comfortable, wood-paneled bar with elegantly finished tables and banquettes. Courteous and efficient service (shout out to the servers, especially Lauren) for some good beers and good food. Red Quinoa Salad ($12) was generous and tasty. The Brisket Beef Dip sandwich ($16) was full and flavourful, served up on a fresh crunchy bun. The dip was very beefy and I... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
