You can have some good fish and chips and good beer but forget about the Shepherd's pie. The Staff on the main floor for some reason is way more friendly than the one on the 1st floor. Could be very noisy.

Visiting Toronto on business, went here expecting a traditional British menu. Was a bit sceptical, but the Indonesian Mee Goreng was awesome! Good amount of spice and shrimp. Nice relaxed atmosphere, quick and attentive service.

Good neighbourhood local for meeting up with a friend for lunch. The fish and chips are okay but the curry and sausage rolls, my friend tells me, are probably the best things going on the lunch menu.

My wife and I randomly picked this place to eat. We were driving down Yonge, found a spot to park, and picked the Duke. We decided to share a bunch of starters. Everything was fine. It was normal bar food. We each had a couple drinks and were on our way. Loud, but fun atmosphere. Trans-friendly washrooms.

I was invited back to The Duke of Kent by the new GM, Niall. He responded to my email within a day, was so apologetic and asked if I’d give the bar a second chance to redeem themselves. I’m glad I took him up on the offer. My husband and I had the half order fish and chips for lunch... More

After finally booking tickets for Dr. Strange in VIP, it was just a matter of find a place to chill around the area and The Duke of Kent was definitely that place to chill back with my wife, have a drink and order up dessert. The setting had the english pub and low light ambiance with minimal music blaring out,... More

Last week, I went to the Duke of Kent and ordered a large Bacon Caesar Salad. On the menu it says, “Fresh and fabulous! The perfect Caesar salad with garlic dressing, Grana Padano cheese, croutons and crumbled bacon. Served with a slice of bacon and a Grana Padano Crisp”. Must have been an “off” night for the chef. There was... More

Great atmosphere and excellent service. The stuff was very welcoming and friendly. I live just across the street so for me its a great place where I can go for drink, lunch and dinner. Their lunch menu is only about $10

This was our first lunch here. I had the turkey club with cheese and it was really good. Side caesar was good enough, too. My husband had the Greek salad and it, too, was solid! We love the casual atmosphere here, and the fact that the service can be as fast or as leisurely as you need. Lots of TVs... More

I went three times to this British pub one for lunch, twice for diner. Prices are moderate. It is in Younge Street close to Eglington tube station. The atmosphere and decoration is typical 1980s British public pubs/bars but the service is a bit slow. They have so many differentEuropean can or bottle beers as well as draft beers.

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
