Needed something sweet to snack on in our hotel room and found this place on Trip Advisor. The girl behind the counter was very friendly and obviously enjoyed her job. There was a very good selection and I asked her to pick out a dozen of their mini's, which we took with us back to the hotel. The cupcakes tasted... More

The cupcakes are tasty, and the variety is great. The best part is the frosting, so sweet and rich, you must have a sweet tooth to enjoy! The cupcake itself is a bit dry, I think they are made the night before and put in a fridge. But overall, still awesome.

Love that they have three different sizes and such an awesome selection in all sizes!! I purchased a six pack of mini in all different flavours they were all delicious, especially loved the vanilla cupcake with strawberry frosting. They do seem a bit pricey but well worth it if you are a 'cupcake lover'!!

If I can't eat the frosting on its own I usually consider a cupcake a fail. This is probably one of the best cupcake places in Toronto. Small clean place with quick service, polite staff and delicious cupcakes. They have a cutie size if you just want to pop one and then a couple of more sizes including a celebration... More

I have a sweet tooth & love desserts. We were in the city for a concert and staying nearby so we visited twice! The first visit I purchased a regular size Lemon Vanilla.....it was fabulous! Upon our return I purchased a dozen mini cupcakes in an assortment of flavours. After sampling a few, the lemon vanilla is still my favourite.... More

They have a wide selection of cupcakes in two sizes. I got a vanilla with chocolate icing. Lots of chocolate icing! Which was delicious. I found the cake itself a little dry, but still tasty. The staff was very friendly and the other customers were extremely enthusiastic in their promotion of the bakery.

I found Prairie Girl Cupcakes while meandering through the PATH. They have several varieties and a couple of sizes of cupcakes. I prefer chocolate because they tend to be more moist than vanilla and this is true with Prairie Girl. For me, it's the frosting that makes the difference. I recently tried the maple. It was very good. Another plus... More

I was given a box of these cupcakes as a gift, and I was really excited to try them! Since they were a gift, I can't comment on the customer service experience. But the cupcakes are phenomenal! Wonderful flavours, good balance of sweet and rich, creamy icing. I think anyone would love these cupcakes. I'm excited to head there and... More

We were downtown, and I had heard about Prairie Girl from friends, so I decided to grab some cupcakes. I had a heck of a time finding this location (It was the Bloor St. location) in Yorkville. It is tucked away behind the Church of the Redeemer.. you can't really see it from the street. I wanted a half dozen... More

I've frequently purchased Prairie Girl Cupcakes from the downtown Toronto location and I've never had an issue. The cupcakes are moist and delicious, and when I place online orders, they are always consistent in the quality and always on time. My experience with the Yorkville location has been quite different however in terms of the customer service. Perhaps given the... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
