I went for a breakfast here after previously walking in the rain in the park. I ordered a pastry and a drink and ate it there. After I was finished, I went to the register to order more pastries to go. The server was very rude and disrespectful. I did say "excuse me" to get her attention but at some... More

On the Danforth ,now having to compete with a Starbucks on the other corner maybe not so busy as it was .Friendly staff who are efficient .The cheese and ham crossiant is very tasty.

Such a cute little patisserie located in a busy lively neighborhood. I immediately loved the interior decor and the vibe emanating from this place. 'old is gold' couldn't have been more appropriate to describe the overall setting. La Cigogne offers a wide variety of pastries and cold sandwiches as well as quiches, along coffee/tea and cold beverages. I ordered the... More

You can eat here, and the tables are fine for a quick snack. But this is truly a pastry and bakery. The croissants are perhaps among the best in the city. The eclairs and others are divine. So, look, buy and take home to enjoy. Come early, as they sell out.

I wish I could put into words... To start with, I became enamoured with Opera cakes when working as an assistant to a high class patissier in the French Alps so perhaps I am a bit too harsh as a critic but I was so disappointed by the lack of authenticity (and quality). Unfortunately, I made the mistake of buying... More

I've visited La Cigogne plenty of times. Food is consistently perfect. Service is consistently slow. I suppose I should only visit when I have more than an hour for a cup of tea and croissant.

I wanted to share how we have been dropping in at La Cigogne before long Friday trips to cottage country. Rather than lose time stopping for greasy fast food dinners on the trip north, I have ordered take out sandwiches we consume in the car. And la Cigogne makes some excellent classic sandwiches, for example 'La Parisienne', with ham, cheese... More

Desserts are amazing! Very pricey but worth it once and a while. You need to try the prince noir if your a chocolate lover...simply the best out there. Lunch is ok...baguettes with cold cuts or they do have amazing quiche.

We needed a birthday cake for a friend and bought a St. Eve cake. It is a confection consisting of crusty almond sponge and roasted hazelnut butter cream, with a layer of dark chocolate inside. To say it was superb is almost an understatement. I primarily go to La Cigogne for coffee and a piece of pastry, but to get... More

Staying in East York

Neighbourhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
