The seating is "cozy" and don't look for any matching dishes or fancy décor. The star is the food and the service, both top notch. The mackerel special was creative and delicious, as were the veggies and the cheese plate for dessert. excellent pasta too. Interested, engaging servers. We will definitely return.

This restaurant participated in Toronto's "Giro d'Italia" representing Umbria. I made my reservation, and I looked forward to the dining experience. We arrived at the restaurant, admittedly 5-10 minutes late. The place was much smaller than I expected. Our table was jammed into a cramped area between the bar and the entrance--with people seated at the bar, it was very... More

Horrendous customer service experience. "Manager"/Bartender is a disgrace to Toronto's restaurant industry. Be prepared for verbal attacks if you try to provide constructive feedback. Save your money and go to Raca two doors down for an excellent dining experience.

The four of us had the summerlicous dinner. My wife and I had the Kale salad, but it contained mature, not baby kale. It was tough and bitter. My wife sent hers back. Two of had the flank steak. The steak came with more kale. it was too tough to eat and could not find mine. My wife had the... More

My fiancé and I make Local a part of our eating habits. Both Mike and Fabio are always so friendly, generous, and the food is absolutely incredible. In our opinion, this is the best Italian food you can get in the GTA. Sourced local farm fresh ingredients mixed with fine imported Italian ingredients makes this a dinner to look forward... More

My husband and I booked a table during winterlicious. Clearly the restaurant was just in it to make more money as the tables were absolutely packed in and they had clearly overbooked. When we arrived we let the manager (or owner?) know we were there. He was extremely rude and didn't even bother to take our name down. He basically... More

This was my first visit to Local. We had a 9pm table on Friday evening and the restaurant was very crowded when we arrived, and noisy plus cramped because the space is not large. However, it emptied out as people began leaving, which made the experience a bit more relaxed. The menu is quite limited, but the range of dishes... More

The meal was bland, we had gnocchi, pasta and a salad. The server boosted that they only use a few ingredient in each dish - maybe that accounts for the lack of excitement. The gnocchi tasted like unsalted mash potatoes. The server offered steak - she said it was aged but it was okay because they cut the mould off... More

We are infrequent regulars here - the food is always amazing and the staff are naturally welcoming and happy - and - this leads to good things.

Went there for my birthday and had the Chef's Table. This is very special because it is only available to 2 people per night, and it is very interactive with the chefs and staff. The meal was heavy on cheese - it was in 4 out of the 5 courses, but having said that each one was delicious and different.... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
