I visited the Black Hoof after reading a. Number of positive reviews. While I was happy I went to see what it was about I would not return nor would I recommend it to others. The menu was unique while also playing to some of the expected dishes. They had a charcuterie board, but their expensive surf and turf was... More

The ambiance is really nice here, and they have a lot of unique tapa style dishes. Stop by here for the experience and try the bone marrow, horse tartare and whatever else is exotic to you. The food is good, but the portions are tiny. Really tiny. For the price, it would take a lot to really fill you up.... More

My wife and I went with our 7 month old (which isn't always easy for the staff). They were extremely helpful. We asked the waiter to order for us and keep the plates coming until we were stuffed. He brought us The Bone marrow, horse tartar, surf and turf, sea beam crudo and the smoked tongue bao. All insanely good.... More

This was my last stop on my way home and I've been hearing about this place for awhile now. Finding it wasn't challenging, but with the location, you've still got to keep an eye out, for it will surprise you. The drink selection is nicely put together and it will definitely be an experience that you will remember and hopefully... More

We had wanted to come here for a while, and after experiencing Jen Agg's Agrikol in Montreal, decided we owed it to ourselves to visit The Black Hoof. The menu is ecclectic, but amazing. The food really was superb. Our favourite dish was most certainly the pork belly and spruce dish. But nothing failed. The drinks were extremely well done,... More

I've come to The black hoof because I've been told about all The amazing entres They have ,And that was true. But unfortunately the waiter was very rude to us. It Seems Like he was forced to attend us. Never gonna come back. But again.. food was good.. Maybe a native canadian would have been better treated.

well several people have mentioned the interesting pairing and innovative ways the food is prepared. From a Horse tartar that is both crunchy (its the bits they added to it not the meat itself) to the mushroom medley that I found to be truly inspired to several other dishes that were memorable. The only disappointment came when my visiting dinner... More

Disappointed to see almost no changes to the menu on our third visit this year. Tried to sample things for the first time, started with hummus and chicken liver which was probably the best thing we had. Moved on to a medley of wild mushrooms that sadly disappointed. Lastly the pork tacos were good but uninspired

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
