We stumbled on this place and ended up spending a few hours. Good beer, really decent food and the staff were chatty and helpful (even if they couldn't understand Scottish accents...!!). I'd highly recommend this place if you are in the city.

Went with a group of friends for lunch during a business trip. This place is rather large so can host several people which was convenient for us. The service was quick with our drink orders, mostly due to everyone ordering water..lol Most at the table ordered quick items as our time was short, i had the ceasar salad, it was... More

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. The food here is very average but Keg pricey...$16.99 for a hamburger and fries is ridiculous. Prepare to pay $20.00 for a pitcher of draft ... crazy. This is a chain so the prices are the same at all locations...go somewhere else.

Wednesday night is trivia night at the Bank St. & Maclaren Royal Oak location. Trivia night is an excellent activity for team building. We (7) all had a ball, will be back. Note: This is a pub so expect an array of good beers (local & imported) available but don't expect for gourmet food. An extensive menu is available but... More

Went here with a group on a quiet night and had a really terrible experience with the bar staff! We had all had a few drinks before, but no one in the group was drunk or behaving badly everyone was in a good mood - until we came to this bar with some locals. The main bartender was rude bordering... More

When in a pub, order the pub food: the Royal Oak’s signature fish and chips are really good. We had one order of cod and chips, and one order of halibut and chips. The halibut was more expensive, but the portion size was miserly and my husband left hungry. We shared three tiny perfect desserts, which were truly delicious and... More

We gave gone there for late dinner and beers with friends. Typical pub food, ok beer selection. Stuff was a bit slow, but it was almost end of their work. Still everyone was friendly and helpful.

Let's start with the salad. Sweet potato and quinoa salad. Sounded wonderful. Looked wonderful, however the spinach was over cooked and very mushy. Fell apart when I tried to pick it with my fork. My main meal ordered was a vegeterian quesadilla but sadly a chicken quesadilla came. Lovely waitress was very apologetic and let me know a vegetarian quesadilla... More

Good pub atmosphere with a reasonable selection of beer on tap. The food is average, there are better pubs to eat in Ottawa but if you are just looking for a pint and a place to relax then this one will do.

After visiting our new baby granddaughter in the hospital we decided at 9 o'clock that we need to stop for some dinner. My son recommended we go to the Royal Oak Pub & Restaurant and since we're from out of town we thought we'd give it a try. My husband had fish & chips, and I had the roast beef... More
