Took a flyer on the restaurant, as a pub would not be my first dinner choice. The greeting was friendly and the service was attentive. Lots of smiles to go around. Ordered the corned beef and cabbage boxty, which was good. The fish and chips smelled good as it was going by. This seems to be a favorite spot for... More

Stopped in for a late dinner and decided to go with the "Homemade Shepherd's Pie," noted to be a speciality. It was less homemade that plopped together - scoops of peas, corn and a thin gravy were topped with scoops of dry mashed potatoes. The expected ground beef was barely visible as grains of grey hamburger. While it was all... More

We had good fish and chips here on a Friday night when we had to layover for the night before a morning flight. The female server was super, very accomodating and the beer special was incredibly inexpensive.

The Oak is one of my favourite haunts and I almost always come away very satisfied. I can recall only one time when I was disappointed, and it was a minor thing. Service is usually top notch and they have a nice selection of alcoholic beverages and the food is pretty good if a tad expensive for what you get.

We were on our way to the airport and wanted to stop for lunch. We have done this before and find it very convenient to stop here. The food is very good and the service is excellent and very timely. Whatever we order is always excellent and the servers are very helpful and friendly. A friendly and convenient stop for... More

It's a great neighbourhood spot for after-work drinks or a laid-back night out. Great beer selection and good food. I've never had a bad time here. The service is always good.

Everything tasted great. We tried so many different things. Left there way too full. Great place. Took a too long to get our food but it was worth the wait.

went out of our way to try this pub but upon arriving it was clear that the poor young server was overwhelmed. No greeting, not even a "be with you in a moment", which by the way would have helped. There was a bartender who looked unconcerned, of course the floor is likely "not their job". There were roughly 25... More

I had stopped in one night this past week and was pleasantly surprised that a pub would be offering a "lobsterfest" For $22 you get a full lobster with 2 sides of your choice. The lobster was delicious and the drinks were reasonably priced, all in all it was a great night. I'll be back next time I'm staying at... More

Okay, normally I'd give this place a 3 out of 5...the 2 out of 5 applies to a specific situation, to wit: each year in late June/early July, the Royal Oak chain of pub-type restaurants (of which there are several around the Ottawa area) has a "Lobsterfest." This year, we decided to give it a shot. We love lobster rolls,... More
