The restaurant was cosy and staff friendly. The steak was done to order. The duck breast was very good. Leg of lamb special was perfect. Risotto was good. Black Cat maintains its reputation for good food and good service.

A perfect place to an inspired dining meeting. The service was perfect, the meal unique! A place to come back whenever visiting Ottawa!

We were a party of 8 for a late lunch. Was nice to have the table all set for us. Menu is somewhat limited. Beer choices were limited and wine also. No one could make a Kir Royale which is a common drink. My salad was crisp and ok. However my main was less than memorable. I could not finish... More

Enjoyed a good dinner out. The table we booked was 10 minutes late in being ready but we had a cocktail at the bar and mingled. The servers apologized for the wait and promptly seated us when ready. We were in no hurry anD the server encouraged us to take our time and enjoy the dinner. The service was prompt... More

If you have ever travelled in the south of France and experienced the flavours of a home made cassoulet, you can recreate that experience at Black Cat. The chef anchors it with a confit duck leg that is seasoned to perfection and blends in the traditional sausage and white beans to create a dining triumph. Also recommended is the mushroom... More

We went in for a quick dinner, everywhere else we tried was packed, and this restaurant was weirdly empty for a Friday night. Being both in the industry, and having heard good things, we were quite let down by the quality of the food/taste. The cassoulet (30$) was decent, but could have been creamier, and the leg confit was old,... More

The food and service here are consistently great and the prices are reasonable for a bistro. I also love that it's in Little Italy, since it's easy to head to a bar or comedy show after dinner.

We went on a Thursday night because every other restaurants we called were full because of Christmas Partys. I went there with no expectations. The restaurant was almost empty. The choice is similar to what you would find in Ottawa for a similar range of price. It was good, although not outstanding for the price. The service... in that range... More

Waited for over 30 min to be greeted by waitress and given water. Server never refilled wine glasses and completely ignored taking drink orders from the one of us who wasn't drinking wine. Menu is fairly small and kitchen was out of one main course when we were there. We had a number of small plates to share but they... More

I went here with two girlfriends we all had a great night, the wine selection, cheese plate and the chicken supreme main was all excellent. The servers were also part of the experience, very knowledgeable on the menu and wine pairing. Would definitely recommend visiting!
