Great food and wine. We waited about 4-5 weeks for confirmation of our booking, which was frustrating. As a result, we didn’t have high hopes, however the experience was better than expected. 11am for the first lunch sitting is an hour too early, and 1 hour 45 minutes isn’t quite long enough, however my meal was excellent. Maybe the staff should suggest a glass of wine to start, however I managed to find a staff member at the end of my meal and order a nice glass of wine. I would have liked to stay, however 12.45 was kick out time so as to be ready for the second sitting of lunch. The previously advertised all day breakfast was not available, Also, $44 for a dozen oysters is too expensive in my opinion. A bit hit and miss, but overall a good day.

We visited on a beautiful but windy day. It would have been ideal if we could have dined outside on a table closer to the vineyard but the wind was rather blustery. The venue has an amazing view across the vineyards to the little village of Dunalley and the Dunalley canal. Then on one side you can see the canal open out to Boomer Bay and on the Western side the view is across Fredrick Henry Bay all the way to Hobart and Mount Wellington. The restaurant is very presentable with large windows towards the view so wherever you sit there is a view. There is a wine tasting area, a small shop and plenty of seating options including outdoors and counter style as well as the restaurant tables. The food menu is extensive with Gluten Free and Vegan options. The children are not forgotten either with a child friendly menu. There is an emphasis on the wines grown on site and oysters farmed around a kilometre or two away. The wines will not disappoint. The ladies chose the Pinot Gris and the Riesling and were well pleased. The gents went for the local craft beer, Harbourmaster, from the Hobart Brewing Company, a very nice well balanced IPA style. The food orders for our table included the Quail and Pear with Hazelnut Salad, the Bangor Farm Bowl that was local lamb slow cooked, with quinoa, sprouts, pickles and local vegetables. The third menu item chosen was the local Salmon Gravlax. The dish looked great and tasted fine but the beetroot, horseradish crème fraiche and herb and citrus salad dominated the taste of the salmon that was to be the premier component of the dish. Possibly the salad to one side rather than on top of the fish would have let all the individual tastes shine. The desert menu was a little limited in scope but very delectable. We all chose a special for the day, a mixed berry tart with cream. Top marks for this one. The adventure was concluded with coffee, nice and hot as requested. The staff were friendly, the meals came out in good time and the whole experience was delightful. I would thoroughly recommend the Bangor Vineyard Shed. Great views, great wines, and a fine regional restaurant.

Stopped here on our way back from Port Arthur and enjoyed a late lunch. Luckily we only wanted a small snack and was happy with the chips served with sea salt and aioli. We accompanied this with a glass of their sparking wine. Very busy and would recommend booking a table if you want a full meal.

Having twice visited I took my relatives who live locally as thank you for having me to stay. We ordered champagne and dips to start. The champagne arrived but we had to chase the dips which when they arrived were delicious and well presented. Two members of the party fancied fish but it came battered and served in a brioche bun. When we asked if we have it served with a portion of chips instead we were told...no it will confuse the kitchen! So we ordered the children’s fish and chips (!) My plate came with a portion of battered fish so hard I could not even cut it. We should have known when a portion of chips is going to confuse a kitchen the outcome is probably not going to be good. So sad the wines are great but the food is not nearly up to the wine list or the stunning venue. To be fair when I mentioned this on paying even though I was not after a discount as I was hosting they did take both plates off the final bill. So they lost two adult plates and two children’s plates all for a portion of chips.

Thanks to the great food and wine, this was the second time visiting this restaurant.Unfortunately, my family and I felt unwelcome and discriminated (as Asians) by a staff named Anita. After we were seated, we grabbed the menus over the counter, which we did not mind at all as the restaurant was full of customers. A waitress named Anita came and asked if we were ready to order, we told her to allow a few mins more to decide, she rolled her eyes, didn't look at us nor said a word then walked away from our table. After that, we didn't see her around so I raised my hand to signal another staff over the counter that we were ready to order.Anita approached us and said " We do not do that (raising hand) in Australia. " We will come to you when you are ready" "Do you do this in your home country?" We found we were offenced and discriminated owing to different cultural backgrounds. We don't think it is an inappropriate and unprofessional manner to serve customers. We hope the owner of the restaurant will take a serious consideration on this matter so all of the customers /tourists from different countries and backgrounds are treated equally and respected.

Dear mandylts0126, thankyou for visiting Bangor and for taking the time to write a review. We would like to offer our sincere apologies to you and your family for the offensive remarks made by one of our staff. We have spoken with the staff member concerned and they would like to pass on their apologies also. Although they didn't intend to cause any offence, they realise that their remarks were insensitive and inappropriate. It is personally disappointing to us that you have has this experience at Bangor, as we pride ourselves on the very high standard of hospitality we show all our guests. We are glad you enjoyed our wine and food, and hope to see you back at Bangor again soon. Regards, Matt and Vanessa

As locals we had heard of the renovation and the new menu so had to try it. The renovation is beautiful and love the new deck space the food on the other hand... I ordered the calamari and for $22 all I got was 8 pieces of frozen deep fried calamari on a "seasonal salad" of just green, very wilted soggy lettuce with lemon juice and salt. Our entree was brought out at the same time as the mains and was the roast pumpkin Hummus. The bread was stodgy and more like banana bread minus the banana. We asked for more bread but another 30mins later and still no sign of it. After enquiring we got told the "the kitchen must have forgotten about it" Certainly wasn't impressed and won't be eating here again.

Hi Intheknowuphere, thanks for visiting, and glad you liked our new wine tasting room. Hope you had a chance to try a few wines and enjoy the view while you were here. We're sorry your food experience wasn't up to our usual very high standards. We pride ourselves in offering a fantastic experience and it sounds like we under-delivered for you on a couple of things this time. We're always looking to improve and if you visit again hopefully we can deliver a better experience for you next time. Regards, Matt and the Bangor Team

It’s such a shame they split up with the oyster part of the business. The place still does nice wine but the food is way overpriced and of average quality -$44 for a dozen oysters has to be the highest price in Tasmania. We had a $36 cheeseboard which consisted of 3 bots of cheese, apricot jam and some lavish - Rip off.

Hi Trasbash, Thanks for visiting Bangor Vineyard, and so glad you enjoyed our wines. We have a range of awesome dishes on our menu, and oysters are one of our most popular. We source from a few local oyster farmers, depending upon who is harvesting fresh at the time. They are a Tasmanian delicacy, and our current price of $42 per dozen is well within the price range for fresh oysters at Tasmanian restaurants – certainly not the highest price! Likewise our Tasmanian cheese platter features local premium cheeses, and is accompanied by our house-made goodies including lavosh and fruit paste. As farmers ourselves, we understand the value of fresh, local produce. It’s not always the cheapest, but it is the best! Regards, Matt and Vanessa

I'm becoming a bit of a regular to the Bangor Wine Shed. The staff always welcome me warmly, I can't take my eyes of the stunning land and seascape, and there is always something delicious on the menu to go with my wine or coffee. It's my go-to place to take visiting friends and relatives too, because I can trust you to deliver on the experience, every time. Thanks so much.

Spent a couple Hours at Bangor Winery on a "let's show you Tasmania" tour. Our Winery Host was Charlotte, and she did a great job. Fun, Informative, and Entertaining. Oh, and the WIne was great. They paired it with the local oysters, cheeses, and meats. I was very impressed. If you love wine, and want to taste local (non-gritty) Oysters they have them.

We have dropped in on many occasions the past. We booked this visit months in advance as we had friends from overseas and requested a table outdoors as we possibly could have a dog with us. Despite booking in advance & reconfirming a few days out with the specific request noted, on arrival we were told we were booked inside. I explained there was a specific note for the deck. We managed to grab the last table outdoors in the wind & quite cool. We were later advised tables on the deck could not be reserved (despite a number of tables having reserved signs & have done so in the past also). As it was we managed the last table, however, had we been a few minutes late, we would not have a table and could have travelled over an hour for nothing despite booking in February! A simple phone call explaining any changes to the booking would have been appreciated. Having said all of the above, the food & wine was enjoyable but we were freezing & blown away by the wind.

Hi Tassie1301, thanks for visiting, and glad you enjoyed our wine and food. Sorry for the confusion with your booking. We don't book tables outside far in advance, as it can b a bit windy sometimes (as you found out). This is why your booking was made inside. Our experience is it is better for guests to have the option of a table inside. If guests prefer to sit outside when they arrive, then this can be arranged, as it was for your visit. The tables you saw reserved outside were done on that morning for our wine club guests. Hope to see you again soon, Matt

Booked for lunch. Nice airy restaurant with inside and outdoor seating. Excellent bread as started. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar beautiful. Food well cooked and made from fresh ingredients. Flathead was delicious. Piece of cake for dessert was moist and tasty. Beautiful surroundings with plenty of parking.

Full marks to everyone for the smooth running of the Bangor Vineyard Shed’s first Open Mic evening. It was a thoroughly entertaining way to spend a wintery Friday evening. Congratulations to all the performers who shared their talents with patrons. We’re looking forward to a repeat performance. The restaurant was jam packed yet the wait staff and kitchen staff never missed a heartbeat.

After not having had the best run with the local food (struggling to find things that hadn’t come out of a fryer) we had a wonderful lunch in a beautiful setting at Bangor. Olives warmed and made all the more tasty with a hit of citrus, excellent bread with tasty pumpkin hummus and the most delicious slow cooked lamb and salad bowls hit the spot. The Pinot gris (me) and Pinot noir (him) were just right. The pacing was a little hasty but otherwise, outstanding.

Despite a nearly full house, the staff managed very well. The timing of the courses was good; I enjoyed the Calamari, plus the Pannacotta is the best I’ve tasted, with silky smoothness contrasted with sweet rhubarb and some baked crumble garnish. And what a view, accentuated by the lovely sunny day. A great day with friends.

The breathtaking panorma, relaxed contemporary barn style architecture, and warm welcome, suggested our group of 10 gathering for a special birthday were in for a memorable experience of the best kind. And it was...chef has the happy knack of showcasing local produce with elegant simplicity - ours was one happy table as we tucked in, all washed down with their impressive wine selections. Much passion and love has been invested in creating the Bangor Vineyard experience, we look forward to visiting again.
