Dropped in tonight for a beer and probably a lite meal. We were offered a sat beside the bathroom door or the kitchen door but settled on the bar which would otherwise work well. Both of our beer choices were sold out so we left. Not a good experience!

I had the pan fried haddock and fries. Very good, good temperature and flavour. The server was great! Attentive but not overly. We all enjoyed our meals, no complaints at all.

Came here for a drink after a Mooseheads game. Very impressed with the whisky on offer. Chatted with the bartender for a while about a couple of selections and he was very knowledgeable. Great atmosphere - never got too rowdy. Will return again.

After our third time dining at The Loose Cannon it seems like we should finally review. First, great atmosphere. Second, staff are always friendly and helpful. Third, prices are very reasonable for downtown Halifax. Finally, the haggis is delicious! I had to try it (I've always been curious) and after trying a bite of mine my (very skeptical) husband decided... More

If you are 40 plus then this is the place for you. I have never felt so young until having a beer here on a friday night. We had brunch here the next morning and its better to stick to the liquids at night.

Wandered past on a Thursday evening, menu looked good so we stopped for an early supper. For some odd reason the place was completely empty. I had the chicken curry and my friend had fish and chips. Both were reasonably good. It's hard to find a curry with some heat in Halifax's pub scene, and this one delivered. For best... More

The Loose Cannon is one of the last pubs in Argyle street. The bartenders here is realy wellcoming and nice! Even when it's crowded they take their time to have a chat. There is a nice selection of whiskey and beer, and also a drink selection! Quiet and nice music (if you ask for a song, they play it). On... More

A Scottish bar that has a blues night? I liked that! We were not let in because the fire regulations said it was full. I didn't like that. We did not eat.

I had a chicken salad with an amazing in house raspberry vinaigrette and my girlfriend had the daily special of fish. Both meals were very good, fresh great sauces. Reasonably priced.
