We stopped in when my aunt was in town overnight. All 3 of us had scallops and chips. They were soooooo delicious! Staff is friendly, food is great!

Whenever we visit Dartmouth we always love to visit John's lunch. The fish is fresh, the servings large and the batter not too thick nut too thin. My kid's remind me not to forget about the fries, which are perfectly crispy!

So.... we wanted to eat in, but got there too late. No big deal, before they closed, they offered us takeout. Not at all disappointed. Great Idea! This is the #1 Fish Restaurant, not stating or repeating reviews from others or all the awards that they have achieved, but my own personal recommendation. Terrific Fish! Great Service! Friendly Staff! Good... More

been a while since I had some fish and chips, so I thought what better place than john's lunch, I have heard only good things, I was disappointed, I found the fish thick with a heavy batter, I like my fish lightly battered and flaky, this was neither

Hadn't been to John's in a while but grabbed some haddock tips and fries the other day. It was just as I remembered. Lots to eat. Good and fresh and very tasty. I was full before I was done and quite content! Bear I mind, this is a classic dinner where you go for the food. It's not candlelight dining... More

Fresh clams are being dug so that John's can cook em up. After a long winter without fresh clams it was time for a feed. Again we went around 7 pm for dinner. Again they were very busy. Again we ate at the lunch counter. Again it was great. Not just the clams. The fries and coleslaw were great. The... More

Love their clams and chips and service is superb! Would love to try the scallops but not willing to give up my clams - A bit dingy on outside and in but don't let the looks fool you! Very , very busy spot - may be difficult to get seated at supper hour
