Best place for local typical fish and chips. To eat same way as people here do, Must eat the chips with all the gravy sauce and the dressing. Teste great! Recommend the Iceberg beer (brewed by a local brewery with iceberg water) to drink.

Our host on our trip recommended this place as my partner wanted to watch the Man Utd football game when we had just arrived. He suggested here, as English travelers, he said we would feel right at home and also too get fish and chips! The place is very chilled, the Guinness was good and the fish and chips definitely... Slammed with regulars, we managed to get 2 seats at the bar. We were told by everyone at our hotel that this is the BEST fish and chips in town, they weren't lying! Moderate price for a fantastic meal. At 4:00 the menu become more limited and the kitchen closes at 8:00 pm.

Love love love! Just finishing a whirl wind europe trip and ended up in this little gem, which served the best food hands down we had eaten in over a week (we had lots of great meals). Great pub atmosphere, really nice servers and customers!! A do not miss place in St Johns!!!!

The best fish and chips in town!! This little restaurant is well hidden in a little alleyway just off Water Street or Duckworth st.. The staff is friendly and efficient and is always willing to find you another chair to fit at your table if another friend or family member arrives for lunch , dinner or just to join the... More

I'm currently mid-way through a 2-1/2 week visit to St. John's. We visited here on our first day for what we heard were great fish and chips. Well, they were, "okay," but nothing to write home about. If you peeled off the greasy batter, the flavour of the fish improved considerably. Chips were plentiful and tasty. Partway through our lunch... More

This place is a local favourite. Lots of beers on tap, great fish and chips, quick service. I didn't find the waitress very engaging and she did the job at its minimum requirements. This is not what I've been accustomed to in St. John's! Normally the waitresses are very friendly and engaging....oh well maybe she was having a rough day.... More

Definitely some of the best fish in town, chips can be hit or miss, but fish is awesome. Bar staff is always on the ball and know how to proud a proper pint. Wait staff won't keep u waiting to long for order or refill, but they always seem impatient and somewhat annoyed. Atmosphere is cozy and is old world... More

Duke of Duckworth has excellent fish and chips in a great old pub atmosphere. Everyone in our group ordered the same thing and we all agreed, the Duke of Duckworth was where it was at for fish and chips in St. John's. Excellent with a side of beer and fries.

I always find whenever I go here it's always so loud and noisy. You can't really talk to anyone next to you because it's so loud. We only had drinks here and all I can say was the service was fine. We just sat at the bar and the place was not full by any means I guess considering it... More
