In Whistler village there are 2 top class restaurants that offer delicious food and great service, Both around the same price range and professionalism. I have tried both this last 2 weeks and my overall favourite is Araxi's. Probably because I have been eating here for over 25 years. Apart from a period in the 1990's when they went too Asian, with over spiced dishes, it has always been renowned for it's fresh local food and imaginative dishes created by their executive Chef. So it was with anticipation of a great evening that 3 of us dined there recently. Their sommelier , a hard to get and busy man, is very knowledgable about the wines. The prices range from over $1000 a bottle down to a more affordable $60-70 a bottle. We enjoyed an excellent BC Chablis, an Italian Ripasso and a Fort Berens late picked riesling. Bread selection was not as good as previously but then perhaps that is a good thing as one can be tempted to fill up on fresh baked breads. The service overall was good but perhaps our waiter was a bit over familiar asking too many personal questions - but with a good heart. The food did not disappoint, very fresh sashimi and tuna entrees ( Starters) followed by Venison and the house made patisserie. All were of an extremely good standard. We waddled out happy and replete!

We visited in a group of six for Araxi's 39 anniversary dinner special, ordering from the prix fixe menu. The meal consisted of five courses with choices of starters, entrees & desserts all for $39 per person. The food was delicious (all five courses) and our server was super efficient and very friendly. The wine list can be a bit daunting with far too many pages and prices ranging from $60 to $1600 and beyond. If you're planning on ordering wine with your meal, I'd recommend having a look at the wine menu online before you go so you won't have to spend a lot of time dwelling over it when trying to visit with friends. The restaurant adheres to all the Covid 19 protocols and we felt totally safe. The staff were wearing face coverings and tables were nicely spaced apart. The bathrooms were cleaned after each use and patrons are required to wear masks when walking throughout the room. If you can get there while the anniversary promotion is still going on, it's a terrific deal. If not, go any time, Araxi has survived 39 years because it's one of the best in Whistler.

The Anniversary menu was very good and offered great value for money. Araxi are also offering a pairing menu and this elevated the experience for me. The 5 course anniversary menu was spectacular for all courses, except the entree. I ordered the 'special' of duck but it was plated with the same risotto as the chicken option and frankly was a duck breast sitting on risotto so the plating didn't reflect the reputation , or expectations, of this restaurant. Personally, I think there are better restaurant options in Whistler under the Top Table group. The restaurant is well laid out to meet COVID precautions. There is hand sanitizer available at the entrance and there was no visit from the Maitre D' at our table - presumably to minimize contact, so its feels like a safe environment.

We went as a family of 4 to Araxi on a Saturday night. We have been there last year and was impressed, so decided to go back. The service is still good, the sommelier clearly knew his stuff. However there was significant delay between the starter and main courses (>30 mins) due to the kitchen which they apologised for. When the food came it was still very good, apart from one steak that was overcooked and the manager, who came to apologise for our wait, also acknowledged. We were offered an adjustment to our bill. We appreciated this, and hope if we go back then things can be better.

…..this restaurant would be in it for sure. This was a return visit for us, having so much enjoyed Araxi before. This time we were able to partake in the 5-course Prix Fixe menu. We started with a delicious Walla Walla Velouté, followed by, of course, Pate de Foie Gras. Well worth the supplementary cost, beautifully presented and silky in texture and flavour. The centre course consisted of Squash, prepared three different ways. For our main course, I substituted Citrus Cured Trout with Arctic Char, prepared in a subtle Tomato Vermouth broth, absolutely delectable!! My wife chose the Rossdown Farm Chicken in Speck, a beautiful presentation and one of the best meals she has ever tasted. The Apple Mousse and Chocolate Tart finished our meal off in style. Our server ( So sorry I did not get her name) was extraordinarily knowledgeable, and it was easy to see why she was chosen to coach a new member of staff. Her explanation and rationale for the wine pairings ( a must!) were second to none and she made our evening most enjoyable. The guide Michelin Three-star rating goes to those restaurants that are worth a special trip. Araxi is certainly worth travelling to Whistler for which is why we are once again returning for another delightful experience during Cornucopia in November.

I’ve been to this restaurant twice this month and once last year. Drinks are solid, food is very good. Sometimes the service is hit and miss at the bar seating and it is very busy, a tad crowded compared to similar standard restaurants. Food could also be a little warmer, it’s very tasty but not as high a quality as their sister restaurants or The Rimrock in my opinion. Still worth a visit though!!

I have wanted to eat here since it was part of the Hell Kitchen series. I even went to the location for the finale. So for my partners special birthday we finally got to go. My red deer loin was good but the rest of the meal was just okay. The fois gras starter was not the best I have had (Quebec City and Chicago restaurants I ate at did it better) and the Wagu beef was average which given the cost was disappointing, (Wolfgang Pucks Cut in Vegas made this meat look meh in comparison). I also found a curl short dark hair in my food as the server placed it in front of me. I was glad we tried it but honestly would not pay for it again given the experience. Also being seated in the main artery of traffic from the kitchen was disrupting and unnecessary given so many free tables. We felt overall a little robbed.

Pre-Covid Araxi was one of my favorite restaurants on the planet and I went there twice or more per week. The sommeliers knew my wine preferences and I could go anytime, be recognized by the staff, and after waiting for sometimes an extended time still always get a high top table in the bar. Yesterday a fresh faced new receptionist flatly told me she wouldn’t even put me on a wait list for a bar table. As I peered in I recognized no faces but saw a new sommelier and all new waitstaff. I’ll just have to wonder what it’s like inside now.

We were 10 minutes early for our reservation and my guest and I were seated immediately With the Covid situation the tables were well spaced and customers were well distanced from each other. Our server, Ross was attentive, proactive and really made it a great experience for the both or us. Thank you Ross. We both ordered the beef tenderloin - medium and it was perfectly cooked and so juicy - the sauce was so tasty! Araxi was highly recommended as a cant miss from our friends and it didn’t disappoint. Will be back again.

Outstanding evening here. Staff was friendly, either the manager (or owner?) came by and said hello, and service was smooth and professional. Manhattan was perfect, prawns were fresh and the Marinated Halibut was a light, tasty choice that went down like butter. My server was great, made conversation and even with the new regime of Covid-related challenges, she was completely professional. I hope to come back soon.

We had to dine at the bar because the dining room was so busy, but we were blown away by the outstanding service given by Patrick and Sarah. They saw to that every detail was perfect and made us some of the best cocktails my wife and I have ever had. I was very impressed with their knowledge of local products, which we always try to order, and it is obvious they take pride in their work. The food was spectacular. and arrived quickly. We had a selection of oysters and other seafood, as well the venison tenderloin and the Arctic char. I would highly recommend this restaurant and especially the bar, where the atmosphere was calm and professional compared to the chaos on the floor.

On October 26th my husband and I dined at Araxi. It was fantastic. I had booked through open table and mentioned that it was my husband’s birthday and asked for a quiet table for 2. Upon arriving, the woman at the front confirmed it was a birthday, the manager came to out table shortly after we were seated with a birthday card and my husband’s dessert dish had happy birthday written on it. The food was fantastic, we chose the 5 course meal and wine pairing and Jeff our server took care of us so well. Highly recommend for a nice meal out.

We went here on Valentines' Day, for a romantic date, and we were happy with our choice. The lamb may have been the best that I have eaten. The waiter honestly alerted me to the better options for a wine pairing, giving me a better value too. The restaurant is set in warm tones and has an energetic, open atmosphere, yet the tables are finely set and apart enough for private conversation.

I am so glad I booked this restaurant! It is expensive but the value is there. The setting is lovely, the service was impeccable and the food was all delicious! We chose to do oysters, and small plates, great decision for us! Loved, loved, loved the beet salad! it is not to be missed. The octopus was perfectly prepared, and the crust on the crab cake was perfect! Thanks for a lovely evening! We were here in February and since they serve seasonal dishes, everything we loved may not be available, but rest assured what is offered will be delicious ! This restaurant is expensive so I would not recommend it to families with young children. The wine selection is amazing!

Unfortunately after weeks of hype up from my boyfriend, this oyster bar was beyond a disappointment. Right off the hop we felt like an inconvenience because we did not have a reservation. Luckily they were kind enough to find us a 2 top in the lounge.... Unfortunately the waiter we were given was less than happy to serve us, let alone take pride in his job. We ordered some east coast oysters which he forgot about... followed by drinks that sat on the bar for over 10 minutes as our server was no where to be found. When we ordered our entree, our server thought it was necessary to inform us of the "unequal cook time" of our entres and that it was inconvenient for the kitchen to serve these dishes simultaneously..however when the deer venison showed up the tuna roll was no where to be found(exactly opposite concern of the server to begin with) Our server was beyond rude (eye rolling Included) and our overall experience would've been better with someone who gave 2 craps about his job. He clearly needed a hug. We paid for our drinks and left before food all was served - one of the most uncomfortable hours of our dining lives - hopefully the dude has a better day tomorrow because damn, he broke our experience
