Alta Bistro is slightly out of the Whistler concourse but well worth the effort. Its card is relatively short with around six of each course (locally sourced and regularly changed) but it's hard to see why you'd want more, since this is a place which concentrates on doing things well and produces the goods. The service is friendly and professional,... More

Whistlet locals live this little gem! Run don't walk to enjoy some of the best food and drinks available in Whistler! Owned and operated by a Whistler local this restaurant proves that local farm to table is the best way to showcase the amazing food produced in our Sea to Sky Region!

6 of us went to Alta Bistro for dinner. Our appetizer of root vegetable salad was excellent but our mains - pork tenderloin and confit of duck were disappointing.

tugged away from the pedestrian zone on Main Street this little gem serves locally sourced food and does it well. Creative combinations like a root vegetable salad or a smoked cod with crispy chicken skins lift this place above the usual resort fare. Locals seem to love it as well, always a good sign. Extensive wine list, alas very few... More

Best hot tip we ever got for dining out in Whistler was Alta Bistro. A delicious little gem of a place. You can feel the dedication of the team from the moment you walk into the place. Cozy and full of atmosphere with an immediate view of the kitchen where it all happens. I love Alta BIstro. Have been dining... More

Recommended by Sonya from Whistler Tasting Tours and our ski instructor mate Max as a favourite of the locals. Very easy to see why locals love it. For the record my restaurant rating was 1. Rim Rock 2. Umberto 3. Alto Bistro 4. hy's 5. Araxi (best if sit at the bar) 6. Quattro 7. Bear foot (a bit pricey)... More

The menu is relatively short (about 6 mains) but the quality is good. The cod was great, not too heavy, and the steak sauce was delicious, as was the steak. Sweetbreads were delicious and great to see a restaurant doing this type of food. Well laid out wine menu. The cheeseboard for dessert is highly recommended. Minor quibble would be... More

We had dinner here a few days ago with our son. The menu is relatively small but everything we ordered was excellent and beautifully served. We shared oysters and a cheese and meat platter as our appetiser and had duck and steak for main courses. The food sounds simple but it's not. The mustard is even made by the chef!... More

Our bill for Araxi and Alta was identical, but our experience at Alta was a poor second. At Alta when we arrived the Host was busy, and although we were acknowledged and told he would just be a few minutes by two of the staff, we stood, jackets in hand for what seemed like about five minutes. We were right... More

Description
Locally inspired cuisine set in a casual bistro atmosphere. Chef Nicholas Cassettari combines his classic training, top tier experience, and world travels with the best of B.C.'S bounty to create the fine flavours at Alta Bistro. Service is casual and prompt in the dining room and bar. The wine list is French focused, with the best of B.C. As well as international selections (many by the glass) with Enomatic machines dispensing fine and eclectic selections to pair with Alta's cuisine. Mixologists behind our bar craft some of Whistler's finest cocktails. The cozy bistro atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Reservations are a must.
