Taking tea at the Empress had been on my to-do list for a number of years and this year I was able to do so with a good friend from college days. We each ordered a different tea - mine was called Blue Suede Shoes which was delicious. The 3 - teired tray of finger sandwiches and pastries was delicious... More

The Empress is a fixture in Victoria and a focal point on the inner harbour. I love the old girl. It is, however, an old hotel and despite renovation it maintains it's old world charm - by that I mean small rooms and dated plumbing. The High Tea in the lobby is a beautiful setting and if you don't mind... More

I had won a gift card for Fairmont Hotels and decided to take two friends and my husband and I for Tea at the Empress Hotel. The staff were very nice, the food is excellent and yes the tea was excellent , but how in the world they can charge $75.00 per person for what you get is ABSOLUTLey mind... More

While on a day trip to Victoria, I popped into The Empress for their famed tea. It wasn't planned and I surely was not dressed for the occasion as I was in jeans. With that, the staff was just wonderful and treated me very well with a lovely table despite my lack of Sunday best. I've had some incredible tea... More

Mom and I did the afternoon tea at the Empress last Saturday. It was really one of my mom's dreams come true, she LOVED it. It was a really nice experience, excellent food and lovely presentation. Really a fun afternoon!

The tea was amazing - we even bought a pound of our favorite before leaving. And the cakes and sandwiches were very good. Wonderful, attentive service, convenient parking. The Empress itself is lovely. However, it was noisy with so many people crowded into a room that acts something like an echo chamber. We were seated at a small two-person table... More

This was my second time enjoying tea at the Empress. The experience from many years ago was a much nicer one. The ambiance of this place is not at all what it used to be; it has become very commercial. You expect to pay top dollar for tea at the Empress, and that's fine. It's Iconic, and something that everyone... More

It's pricey, but it's a "bucket list" kind of place when you're in Victoria. The service was outstanding , the sandwich and desserts were very tasty and looked exquisite, and the tea was great. Save up for the experience and just do it, you'll be happy you did.

If you like high tea, and want to be transported back in time, then go to the Empress for tea. While it is a little pricy, it is worth it. They have various teas, with great finger sandwiches, and the atmosphere is wonderful.

We were in Victoria for the day for a cruise, and we popped in to the Empress for tea without a reservation. We were so fortunate they were able to squeeze us in! Delicious sandwiches and petite fours, and the scones were to die for. Fantastic service. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!
